Great machines. I have a '57 420c. Love those two cylinders!

Cool old machine, but it is painfully slow.

Yes, very slow. But before 1953 your options were a horse. Thanks for the comments. TonyK.

Thanks for posting a vid. with you using the 40C. You have a nice one there. Finishing up on my 1953 40C engine next couple weeks on mine, will start the drive unit and clutch packs after that. Will probably use your tool next summer for the tracks. Waiting for my Daughter to edit some vids for you tube.

So this is the 17 hp model? I think I'd need a 40 hp.
@Fiatx1920402 жыл бұрын
This is a 23 HP model, 101 CU IN. 4" bore 4" stroke. I was the the start of construction equipment. The Model 40 never came from Deere with a blade in 1953 and was offered latter in 1954. Since I have it here I use it, but 40 HP would be better. You need a certain amount of HP to break the tension of the soil and like most things in life, more power is better. TonyK.

The wide pads were used in soft and marshy soil. This Crawler came out of the Holland Marsh just near Barrie Ontario Canada. When I told the John Deere dealer here about it and he asked how wide at the pads and I told him 14" he replied that machine came out of the Holland Marsh. So I don't think the 14" pads were all that common. TonyK.

I thought they were wider than normal but edited that from my post . Thanks for the details.

The machine normally came with 12" pads, 14" were rare. TonyK.
