From your example it looks like a JR attachment to the mower for collecting clippings would be better for me since I have at least 3x larger lawn to mow unless what you show here is only a portion of what area you mowed. The larger powered attachment would cost another 4-6 hundred dollars, but the capacity and power assist to blow the leaves and clippings to a much bigger collector would be better for me. Thanks for the info.

Just ordered a 350 with electronic mulch kit and a 48 inch deck. I have a lot of flower beds so it's nice to turn off the chute when you are near them. I did not order the bagger because I don't typically have a need to pick up leaves or grass clippings. Hoping the mulch kit does the job well enough. Expected deliver is September. It is rather expensive. I was fortunate enough at the time of purchase to be working at a JD dealer and received a generous employee discount which mitigated the large cost. I recently acquired a lawn sweeper and am eager to test it out. Is your lawn sweeper able to pick up nuts such as acorns?

@@sparksjoshua6643 Thank you for your kind words. 👍 Yes, the chute is a separate kit. When you go to purchase the bagger, the dealer *should* know that, but not all dealers are created equal. Unless things have changed since I was a JD parts guy, it should be the hopper kit and the chute kit. The hopper kit will have the hopper, the bags, and all the brackets to mount the hopper. The chute kit will have the upper and lower chute.

@MillsEngineWorks3 жыл бұрын
The bagger picks up leaves incredibly well. I have had it pick up small rocks and pine needles as well. The use of a power flow depends on the size of your deck. If you have a 42in deck (like mine), it doesn't need a power flow. I don't believe a power flow is made, for a 42in deck on the X3** series. If it's a 48in it will need a power flow.

They omitted directions and order of installation of the parts by design - it's not a mistake in the manual or what order it was bound in - they want you to get frustrated charge you to install it. They discourage owner upgrades and repair and make it difficult by charging you for a repair manual, which is probably about as good as the directions for your bagger. John Deere is like apple as far as serviceability; farm equipment owners REALLY get the shaft as they require you have them do repairs at exorbitant rates. John Deere is a sleazy company. I got my X350 with a bagger free - I'd never buy a John Deere. It's a nice mower but I'll be damned if I'm not "allowed" to fix something I own. I flat out refuse to have them hang me by the ankles and shake my pockets empty when I'm perfectly able to do it myself.

Just purchased and tried installing. Can’t get past first step. The bolt and locking nut are super hard to torque, I assume they need to be flush with the rear of the mower, tow area. Any tips? Did you add washers or is it really that loose. Also, did you purchase a ballast for the front to balance the weight? One more question, how hard is it to change the mower blades to the high blade? They said I shouldn’t use my mulch blades. Thx
@MillsEngineWorks3 жыл бұрын
If possible, I would use a long breaker bar or impact wrench to tighten the bolts. The rear bracket is loose on mine. I did not purchase any rear weights and have found no issues by not using them. You will need to use high lift blades, as mulch blades will not create enough lift. Changing the blades requires lifting the front of the mower, or removing the deck to replace. The bolts that hold them on will most likely be very tight. The same breaker bar or impact wrench will assist in removing them.
@mauibellas3 жыл бұрын
Thank you
@mauibellas3 жыл бұрын
was able to get it tightened properly. realized I was using SAE wrench when I needed a Metric wrench. no issues after that. interesting that they didn't use a standard throughout as some were SAE and some metric bolts and nuts. I put it together 3 times and looked and some videos to make sure I did it right because the bagger assembly seems to sit on a 30 degree angle away from the tractor vs being flush up to the tractor.

It does work well when it comes to collecting grass. Instructions were very vague, I had to install and reinstall it several times to figure it out. 4 hours total but now I’m an expert. Some things I noticed and wondering if you experienced the same; 1. Much louder when blades engaged than with mulch blades. 2. The top of the deck where the pulleys are accumulated a ton of grass clippings. So much I thought how did this not clog the deck. 3. Don’t overfill because it clogs the chute and you have to disassemble to unclog 4. Like mowing in a dust storm, dirt and grass surrounding me while I mow. I did aerate a few hours prior so thinking that might be it but nonetheless clippings and dust everywhere. But way less blower cleanup after. Actually my blower broke so any suggestions on a great cordless power blower would be appreciated. 5. What are you doing with the clippings? I got a mulch kit in the first place to avoid emptying the bags. I got this to do the leaves but my wife wants me to use it all the time. I filled 8 leaf bags, packed them. The township won’t take it and I don’t have a compost pit big enough for it. 6. I have a half acre and it took me twice as long to complete the mow job because I had to stop so much to empty the bags. I’m assuming I shouldnt bag clippings with that big a lawn. 7. How does this thing do with leaves? I hoping great. I normally have 50 bags of leaves a year. As you can hear in my tone I’m having a kitty buyers remorse. Thinking I paid $700 for a leaf collector, hopefully it does that really good. Btw you mentioned you couldn’t tow. I took the bagger off with 3 bolts and switched the hitch pins for the pin of what I was towing and that was somewhat easy. Thx!
