This was taken from the TV show "Music and the Mountains", an episode from 1981, hosted by John Denver and filmed in Aspen, CO John Denver is playing a Gibson F-5 Carved Top Mandolin, circa 1940s. Danny Wheetman on the second fiddle who later became a member of Marley's Ghost ect . Song is in the key of A. The song is "Bill Cheatham" -It's a classic fiddle tune that's been used in fiddle contests as far back as the late 1800's and has been part of the essential bluegrass repertoire since the early days of bluegrass. "Bill Cheatham" has been popular for much of the twentieth century in the Upper South, and it has been recorded periodically by country and bluegrass fiddlers as a fiddling set piece. I love seeing Itzack Pearlman playing bluegrass!

Itzhak's global talent reminds me here of the late great Canadian Glen Campbell. Glen could play with the best of them, not just country music. His talent and knowledge about tempo and music stretched across pop rock rhythm blues and gospel. Thanks to John for highlighting such talent. The world was lucky to have a complex soul grace our lives for a very short time on earth.

Still a big difference from a real Bluegrass fiddler and and a great Violinist who plays and old time fiddle tune.. Bobby Hicks, Kenny Baker , Stuart Duncan but the best closest fit to both would be Mark OConner... You can't read Bluegrass or Old Time it's a feeling..

Fair enough. However, Perlman can pull off fiddle to some degree. I don't think that fiddlers can pull off the classical repertoire that Perlman has, hence he is an extraordinary violinist.

But if this fiddler can play the complete Bach Sonatas and Partitas or the Paganini Caprices, so you can say he can play classical violin.

@@brenoHCarvalho My dear, first off your unsubstantiated youtube claim of personal "achievement" means nothing, second off there's being able to play and being able to play to a high standard.
