I was blessed with the incredible opportunity of seeing John Denver live at the Marin Center in San Rafael (Terra Linda), CA. It was just John, his guitars and piano. It was beyond belief. I knew he was a fabulous singer, but to hear him live, no background music or singers to take away from his talent was extraordinary. I think it was after the Wildlife Concert. I've tried to Google the event and it doesn't show up. In fact I believe it was not long before his plane accident. I don't know what I did in life to deserve that incredible opportunity, but I will be forever be grateful. Marin County is about an hour and a half to 2 hours north of Monterey.

What a talented man John was. When he died in the plane crash, the world lost not lost not only an singer and entertainer, but also a man who was ahead of his time in caring about the environment. John cared about animals, nature and the earth whether it was on land or life forms in the oceans. He was out to help protect it. When John died, it was a major loss to the world. Rest in peace John Denver.

indeed. i miss him so much, and would have loved to have seen what he could do the rest of his life. I saw him in concert in an outdoor amphitheater in California in 1984. He was somewhat sad, as he shared about his divorce from Annie. I was surprised he could get through singing Annie's Song. I'll never forget that concert. What a beautiful man.

I am almost sure about this, that in one interview he said that what he had was a gift. and he knew it. He was aware of that. I miss him like anything. I took my parents in the early 90's to see his Christmas concert on Long Island. My father was a VERY discriminating person. He stood up and cheered at the concert's end. because whatever he did, it was quality. He knew his concerts were geared toward being perfect. He was truly the steward of a "gift" from God. But---his broken heart was his own stupid fault. He didn't have to cheat, and cheat, and cheat......on Annie. He didn't have to do that. but he was an imperfect human, as we all are. God Bless.
@DellaStreet1234 жыл бұрын
@@annasteffiesolenick9732 Well, according to his book, he "had to". Throughout the book, he comes up with various explanations for his behavior. After sheepishly admitting that there had been "innocent amours" before, he cited the emptiness of a hotel suite after a concert as a reason for indulging his "romantic inclinations". The next time, it was because he had been seduced, by Jerry Weintraub's secretary, for example. Then he seems to have a need to compensate for some emptiness in his life with hedonism on tour, which includes drinking champagne and picking up women. Then, steering toward the end of his marriage with Annie, he has a semi-serious affair ("more than hello and goodbye") and makes it sound like he was looking out for someone who values him more. By the time he is frustrated in his marriage with Cassie, it sounds like: If you are doing it, I'm doing it to. -- To put it in his own words: "Sometimes you have to be more true to yourself than to your partner in order to keep the relationship healthy. Is there a gene for mutual deceit?" I'm glad that he didn't pursue a career in marriage counseling. Well, I wasn't born yesterday, I know how men are wired. While it's true that they think with their pricks (I never met an exception), they also have a masochistic side. They are drawn toward women who treat them like shit.

I remember hearing this concert on the TV and I was blown away , John Denver has something you can’t pinpoint that very few artists have ,, i was very upset when I heard he died and I remember where I was , also when John Lennon past I remember it and how I dealt like a family member past , Denver really touched people hearts and souls , he’s an American treasure and a gift from god .

When John sang this beautiful song at the Waikiki Shell at Kapiolani Park in early 1997, I don't believe there was a dry eye anywhere in the audience of people in lawn chairs or sitting on beach blankets on the grass in front of the stage. I think that even the birds in the park may have stopped singing to listen to him. And I have often wondered how he could sing it with dry eyes. And then, that October, he was gone from us forever. But thank God we can still see and hear him sing those beautiful songs like "For You", on video so good that it is almost (but not quite!) like being next to him on that stage. We miss you, John... 💔💖

@garycarter98593 жыл бұрын
I beg to differ; I believe John's voice was better than Elvis'. He has a greater range and uses it. I always felt that Elvis was holding back when he sung. He had a bigger voice than he usually showed.
