It's New Year's Eve 2023 I've just sent this to my son's Facebook he's no longer with us now just like you John. We lost him to Cancer in 2020. This is my favorite John Denver song. My husband and I came home one night and saw our son Matthew watching John Denver on P.B.S. with his then girlfriend. I'll never forget that as long as I live. Because he was always trying to be like his friends and listen to their Music but I always knew my son had a beautiful soul. He moved to Denver Colorado with his girlfriend they stayed together for almost 5 years until she broke it off. It ripped his heart out. He came back home. He had a lot of friends but their lives had moved on. But he was a tough young man. An Artist who's paintings were beautiful. Just like all John Denver's songs. I truly believe that only the good die young. I love you John Denver and I always will. Everytime I hear your songs they always make me cry. I love you too my little Matty Man you were 32 when you left and I was 32 when I had you. I'm thinking of you tonight with the memory of you and that John Denver story. I pray that you are both in Heaven. 😘🤗❤️💙🙏🙏🙏😇😇💕💕

He never did have a chance to grow old. A great los. But at least we do have his poems, prayers and song. Always missed. Always remembered.

My grandmother made me listen to a John Denver CD when I was 14 or 15 during a 10 hour road trip. This was 9 years ago and i'm incredibly glad she did. On behalf of my generation, thank you for yours.

I was a misfit/loner in highschool (73-77). John Denver was my release from all my dumbass classmates and got me through highschool. I was fortunate to see him live in concert three times. I still listen to his music today and sometimes I find myself tearing up...

What I'd give for a time machine to go back and see this man in concert. It's a rare musician who can stand in front of others with nothing but a guitar and their voice and make the evening a memorable occasion for others. Thank you John Denver for sharing your light for a short while.

I saw him in a small concert hall, he was absolutely incredible! He gave his band a break and he stayed on stage with just his guitar and sang. I’ll never forget how beautiful it was!

This man's songs keep my father's memory alive. Dad was a great guitar player and singer (though he transposed all of Denver's songs to lower keys!), but there isn't a single recording of him playing his old Yamaha or his Takamine 12-string. All there is left is in my heart. John Denver was his all-time favorite, and everything he loved about playing, and what I loved about playing with him, hovers like a beautiful old ghost in all these heavenly, heartfelt tunes.

After he died I watched a wonderful documentary about him, during which they interviewed a lady who had been on the verge of suicide ... so much so that she had the tablets and the alcohol in front of her and had switched on the radio as she prepared to end her life ... this song came on the radio and gave her reason to live ... how many of us will ever be able to say that the beauty from our own soul saved the life of a person we never knew and would never meet?

Ive been lately thinking about my life’s time All the things I’ve done, how it’s been And I can’t help believing in my own mind I know I’m gonna hate to see it endI? ve seen a lot of sunshine, slept out in the rain Spent a night or two all on my own I? ve known my lady? s pleasures, had myself some friends And spent a night or two in my own homeI have to say it now, it? s been a good life, all in all It? s really fine to have a chance to hang around And lie there by the fire and watch the evening tire While all my friends and my old lady sit and pass the pipe around Talk of poems and prayers and promises and things that we believe in How sweet it is to love someone, how right it is to care How long it? s been since yesterday and what about tomorrow? What about our dreams and all the memories we share? The days they pass so quickly now, nights are seldom long Time around me whispers when it? s cold The changes somehow frighten me, still I have to smile It turns me on to think of growing oldFor though my life? s been good to me there? s still so much to do So many things my mind's never known I? d like to raise a family, I? d like to sail away And dance across the mountains on the moon, yes I wouldI have to say it now, it? s been a good life, all in all It? s really fine to have the chance to hang around And lie there by the fire and watch the evening tire While all my friends and my old lady, sit and watch the sun go down Talk of poems and prayers and promises and things that we believe in How sweet it is to love someone, how right it is to care How long it? s been since yesterday and what about tomorrow? What about our dreams and all the memories we share?5
