John Denver - Thank God I'm A Country Boy (From "Around The World Live" DVD)
John Denver is one of the most successful and best loved recording artists of the 20th century. His easy going manner, fine voice, superb songwriting and dedication to environmental issues all combined to build a huge global fanbase that has continued to grow since his untimely death in a plane crash in 1997. This superb 5 disc set is the definitive John Denver DVD release. There are three complete live performances with full band from Australia in 1977, Japan in 1981 and England in 1986. These are complemented by a solo acoustic performance from Japan in 1984 and his performances at Farm Aid from 1985, 1987 & 1990. The final disc has two hour long documentaries made by John Denver, his 1990 Earth Day programme about environmental issues and his 1972 show about the Bighorn sheep of his beloved Rocky Mountains.

I remember we went to a wedding, my dad had cancer and had a medication pump attached to him , they played this song dad was clapping and as sick as he was he had a ball, he is long gone and I cry every time I hear this song as I see my dad laughing and clapping. I love and miss you dad.

Despite the quality of his songs and voice his superstardom was so incredibly unlikely given the time and the other acts that dominated the music industry. Our local radio station does a salute to the Farmers, Fighters and Freighters every Friday morning around 6:30 am. This song get played a lot of those Friday mornings. Also our Elementary school music teacher teaches the kids about his music. I have heard Grandma's Feather Bed sung at more than one concert. R.I.P John your memory lives on.

What a talent John Denver was! He & his bandmates captured that good 'ol country spirit in a toe tappin', fiddle swayin' tune! Had he dropped his private airplane hobby & taken on something a bit safer -- he's still be with us! * Cav in OR; 4/12/15 *
