So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go
'Cause I'm leaving on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again
Oh babe, I hate to go

I was in Berlin, Germany in 1992 and went this place called the Irish Pub to throw back a few. They had this two piece band there cranking out a bunch of American tunes all night. At one point they broke into a stretch of John Denver tunes, and man that friggin' bar came ALIVE! Everybody was singing in English (with German Accents of course) and people got on the dance floor and even some tables dancing their butts off. It was the craziest thing I've ever seen! Those Germans love their John Denver.

I'm a year-round competitive swim coach. And we recently had a big swim meet down in Ohio last week. Anyone who has kids of their own or works with kids knows how tough this pandemic has been for them. It's been an emotional roller coaster battling covid. Anyway.. the DJ at the meet played this song just a few minutes before the meet started, and I was expecting myself and the other coaches to know the song since we're a bit older and the kids wouldn't like it. But then I stopped and looked around the pool deck and almost every kid on deck was dancing to this song. It was so fricking cool seeing that and seeing these kids smile again. Music is so awesome, and this guy was one of the best.

This John Denver album was given to me when I was 16 years old, It was my first ever birthday present{but that's another story}, I had never heard John Denver's music before, but I played his music and loved every single song. and I listened to his music everyday until i could sing every song by heart, I was heart broken when I heard of his passing in his airplane crash. And now, at 63 years old, I still love and listen to his beautiful music whenever I can. God blesses John Denver and American country music.

I met him outside a Harvard College auditorium where I’d just Ostend to his speech on world health. I went out the side door and stood with my young Son ext to his limo. Out he came. As he passed me and got in I said “Hi John. Good luck.” Now in the car, he smiled and said “Thank you.” My little moment with John. The next night, I drove to Providence, R. I. and had a great seat with young and old people watching, hearing him sing. I marveled at that. He will always be my favorite. Robert Plant...a close 2nd.

@user-ru6vf3xd8y I've stopped buying CDs for the time being but with country music besides John Denver I have compilations for Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Waylon Jennings, and collaboratively as The Highwaymen, and also Glen Campbell, Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton. Metallica lead singer James Hetfield is a country music lover. One surprise inclusion on their 1996 album Load is a beautiful and bitter-sweet country ballad about love and loss called Mama Said. Look it up here on KZbin. Even if you're not a Metallica fan, or a fan of hard rock or heavy metal you'll be pleasantly surprised 🙂

The problem is people don't know how to get along with folks that don't agree with all their BS The real problem is politics ... Folks started listening to all these political dickheads instead of listening to their neighbors I'm a big country boy from Thomasville Georgia blue eyes and all I moved to Fresno California as a kid ... All my friends were Mexicans they liked the same stuff as me we all wore boots listened to country music and drank Budweiser and we got along ... We focused on what we had in common and we all became friends I had a lot of black friends too I grew up listening Georgia legends like Ray Charles and Otis Redding and I loved me some good fried chicken I ate what they ate I listened to what they listened to Ironically I didn't like most of the white people in California very much they didn't season their food where overly healthy and looked down on my for my accent they listened to pop music and thought I was a hick because of my boots so I had very few white friends out there ... I always thought that was funny because I know people don't expect it from me when they see me
