He didn't forget the Lord's prayer... he was simply telling us in sign language and had to switch some words to compensate the lack of words they didn't have signs for. John was a great man and spirit and lives on still through his music and lyrics. RIP John. God Bless.

John Denver was such a great entertainer, singer, and man....conservationist, environmentalist, pacificist, and more. His songs had depth, emotion, insight....things you just don't see in music today. I think his "I want to live" version is one of his best. Where have good men, good "country boys" like John Denver with conscience and integrity gone? They certainly can't be found in government and among CEO's of banks and such! God Bless John Denver....you left us much too soon....

Kathleen... the Bible tells us (GOD's children who does HIS Commandments) - to judge the righteous judgement. We line up a person's life with Scriptures. John Denver worshiped Hare Krishna... NOT GOD of Abraham. There is our answer dear. You tell us "not to judge" and yet, you're judging John Denver appropriate enough for Heaven? You're acting like GOD?

Don't despair, D.A.G! John blessed us all with his gift that was from God. I don't really feel that the prayer has been changed, just adapted to the limitations of a different 'language' where certain ideas are not represented. And remember, God also created humor and loves it when we laugh. We need to hold onto and hope for the positive. Who knows, maybe when we meet the Lord there is a final moment of truth and understanding which allows those who haven't, to make the right choice! : )

I remember this concert tour, it was 1984 - "The Man And His Music", only time that that I has seen him solo for a concert...and I still have the ticket stub dated July 8, 1984. It was a Sunday evening 7pm show here in Buffalo, NY. I had recently graduated from college in May '84, my older sister and her husband took me to this concert_my second of five total. Pete wasn't thrilled about going & afterwards said it was the BEST concert he had ever attended. How I still love that man and his music

What a showman. This bit he did with the Lord's Prayer has always amazed me. You could hear a pin drop in the audience... they were spell-bound. How do you get that kind of reaction reciting the Lord's Prayer? I saw him at the Soldier's and Sailor's Memorial Auditorium in Kansas City, Kansas in 1973? He said he was not too excited to be playing that location, as it probably held less than a thousand. I couldn't believe he could get that much sound all by himself.

To all those who've convinced themselves, & are trying to convince the rest of us, that JD is not in Heaven because he embraced Buddhism: There is a HUGE difference in being religious and being spiritual. Surely, JD was a spiritual man. What we've come to call the "Lord's prayer" is actually a model prayer presented to the disciples who asked Jesus, "Teach us to pray." As for his final destination: "who hath known the mind of the LORD?" Only God can answer that for us.
