John Denver’s music changed the whole course of my life. His heart was so pure … and so is yours, good brother!! This song, along with ‘Poems Prayers & Promises’ and ‘Rhymes & Reasons’ are my favorites of John Denver.

This is the song John always closed his concerts with -- the very last encore. And he always told that story, too -- in nearly the exact same words. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

Alex ... listen to John Denver's live performance of "For You". The poetry of this ballad will melt your heart as it does mine every time I hear it. To be the woman for whom these words were written would make me feel so deeply loved and so tenderly cared for than I have ever been in my life. This song is played sometimes at weddings and that is so appropriate. Thank you for listening to This Old Guitar - it is a story of his life.

One of the few but great troubadour's of the ages. His music had a way of reaching the depths of the heart and bringing joy to the soul. RIP John Denver.

He was such a special human and storyteller. His music saved my life a couple of times when I was a teen. He's deep in my heart. This is a special song too. Thank you for reminding me of this song. You might enjoy his powerful song "The Eagle and the Hawk".

John is my most favorite singer of all time! I totally agree with you on so many points; not a lot of music written like this, not a lot done so simply! John would usually end his concerts with this song, he dismisses the band and it's just him and the guitar! 2 of my favorite songs are "Poems, Prayers, and Promises" (check the Wildlife Concert version or any live version but studio is great too) and "Shanghai Breezes!" You can't go wrong with any John Denver song! I also have to recommend "Sunshine on my Shoulders."

So very beautiful. John Denver was a story teller extraordinaire! I worked with a girl who went to school with him. She brought the school picture annual and showed me his picture in school. It was fun to see that. He was playing in a school talent show. Imagine that!

John Denver is one of my favorite artists of all time! His voice is so pure and expresses so much emotion. The music and lyrics touch my heart. He wrote such beautiful songs including my favorite love song "For You", you should check it out.

I used to play this song all the time at college and it always felt very close to me as it did allow me to meet some wonderful women and friends over the years.

Beautiful! When I saw the title, I thought is John doing a cover of Neil Young's "This Old Guitar"?! As it turned out, no What beautiful lyrics and sentiment. Same as Neil's but from a different perspective. Good one Alex
