John Denver just always seemed sincere, like after the song you said thank you for spending the evening with me. He just seems sincere.

Fame never went to his head. To the end of his life it continued to amaze him that people, let alone thousands of them, would come to hear him sing.

Just a man, his voice, and a guitar. John Denver didn't need much else. No high-handed production or tricks of the studio. Just his raw, beautiful voice telling us about his life. I think the best songwriters write about what they know, which is why a lot of their songs are autobiographical. I miss this man to this day. Hard to believe it will soon be 30 years since we lost him.

I love John Denver! But I have never heard that song before! Thanks for sharing it! I love those Nostalgia type songs. This one was his nostalgia, but took us in like it was our own.

A master and his tool! No one else like him. Check out Calypso live from the Wildlife concert. Annie's Song was written in 10 minutes about his wife

That performance of calypso gives me chills. So much of his stuff does. Same with the Eagle and the Hawk. I hear my dad when I listen to John Denver. My dad loved him and I grew up on him. So after my dad passed 11 years ago and Mr Denver gets me every time

Such a sweet man and gave so much to others. He liked weed and nature. He was such an kind soul with an angelic voice. So sad when he died in a plane crash. Rip Sweet John ♥️. Thank you for playing this song. ✌️🎶❤️

John is my favorite singer of all time! He created songs that just have a feeling to them that I haven't heard much like this! "Poems, Prayers, and Promises" is my favorite song (use either the Wildlife Concert version or An Evening with John Denver version!)! "Follow Me" is another great song and another one to try is "Rhymes and Reasons"! But you can't go wrong with anything JD!
@gregscupholm2543 жыл бұрын
Agree wholeheartedly. Have to do the versions recommended here regarding ‘Poems, prayers and promises”. I agree with this whole post in its entirety actually. Rhymes and reasons is just so incredible.Missing John.

It's a really touching piece you can see he's telling a true story and that he thinks back on his time in his life where the things he sings about happened to him

If it's a love song you're looking for, one of my favorites has always been 'Annie's Song'. The song's inspiration was John's wife Annie. He mentioned in an interview that he came up with the lyrics while skiing down a mountainside. I can't help but think about the music we've missed out on because he passed away so young. God rest his soul.

I really love that you didn't keep turning the video off and talking a lot in between like so many do, you did not need to, it all showed on your face what you were thinking/feeling
@WolfStarbuck3 жыл бұрын
Great reaction! You wondered if he did romantic songs... not the way you're thinking. In fact you've already reacted to the closest he had, Annie's Song. But if you pay attention to the lyrics, "Leaving on a Jet Plane" or "Shanghai Breezes" would qualify, I think... but the thing I feel about his music, is most of it was about love, even if he didn't always use that word. He had a love of life, and of his surroundings, and that came through in the lyrics. For his kids and for his fans. As someone else pointed out, he was an environmentalist and loved flying. In the 70's, he was one of the biggest artists going, but he didn't really change with the times and he lived long enough to become a caricature. As musical tastes changed, his work was sadly derided. So it's nice to see people today looking back at his music, and appreciating it for what it was.
