Absolutely bloody awesome, guys! Glad to see you get a win on the old girl. Yep - sometimes they can fight you, sometimes they really want to live. The cool thing about early vehicles is that there is no electronic gizmos trying to micromanage you and their wiring loom is basically lights, ignition and charging....plus a power wire for the wiper if it has one. The engines were built with such large tolerances (by today's standards) that if you waved an oily rag at them, they would start. If they aren't seized, they will run.....and with mechanical brakes, you have them from the start - no matter how long they have been sitting. If they were there when it was parked, they'll still work when it comes time to move again. A great vehicle to get going and always a crowd pleaser. There's something about the sounds the engine and gearbox of an old car makes that always puts a smile on a petrolhead's face - no matter what type of car he usually prefers to drive. See? You don't need a big budget or a parts cannon. Internal combustion is internal combustion no matter HOW old it is. Got compression? Great! Add spark, fuel and air and she'll make a noise. I think your parts company (whichever one it was) actually did you a favour by letting you down. A win is a ton more epic and ultimately more satisfying when it's done on the fly. Bloody good on ya! All the best.

@@KiwiStag74 everything you said was great. The main thing I loved about all of this was not having to work on brakes. It amazes me how solid this thing actually is. Wonder how many are out there we can revive with fluids and sandpaper haha! Only thing we really needed from the model a parts company were tires, the ones we had were soooo bad but thankfully held up.

I used to know a guy about ten years ago that had a nearly 100% original Model A that he drove regularly. His family had owned it since it was new, and nothing had been done to it, other than replacing a couple of tires. It was mind blowing when I saw it. It even had the original plugs and wires, and it was 90 years old at the time. They don't make them like that anymore.

@@DailyDrivenDeathTraps The Mason City Iowa robbery took place on March 13th of 1933’. Dillenger used a Buick 90 as his getaway vehicle on that day. The October 23rd 1933 robbery took place in Greencastle Indiana. Dillenger used a 33’ Essex Terraplane as his getaway vehicle on that day. So this ol’ Ford Model A wasn’t used in neither robbery folks. Unfortunately some old timer was telling some tall tales. Unfortunately it likely has zero history with John Dillenger or his gang.

keep it family rated please and thanks so glad you have Lubrication is the control of friction and wear by the introduction of a friction-reducing film between moving surfaces in contact. The lubricant used can be a fluid, solid, or plastic substance. Although this is a valid definition, it fails to realize all that lubrication actually achieves.

For old timers like us a few of these old vehicles were still being driven on the road back in the 1960’s. It wasn’t real common but once in a while you’d see the original owners still driving all original vehicles not street rods.

If you Google John Dillinger hold up in Mason City Iowa, you will find that it was in March of 1933. There is no mention of a woman or girl being injured or killed during or after the robbery. This is the first time I have watched one of your videos and, as an old car hobbiest for 60 years, it is painful to watch you fumble your way through this start-up. I'm praying for the survival of this poor Model A, and I am a Chevy guy.
@bigmikeyz0071
@bigmikeyz0071 Ай бұрын
Yeah I commented as well. Because Dillenger used a Buick 90 for the Mason City robbery. I’ve read up a lot on gangster cars. Dillenger almost exclusively stole ford v8’s and always prior to the robberies. He did steal a 1930 model A well on the run but not during a robbery. Also no girl was ever shot in their back seat. Maybe this car was on the street during a shootout but that’s even highly unlikely as well.

@@marleymatthews7633 There are plenty of people around who know and love cars from the 20s and 30s. They are no longer the heart of the collector car hobby, but still have an active following. To see this, or any other, old car mistreated like this is hard to watch. I never heard anyone say "let's get it running on all cylinders before we drive it". They clearly have no respect for it as a surviving piece of machinery that is almost 100 years old. A simple google search dispels their B.S. Dillinger angle. What a waste of time.

And let's me honest in ten years time or even within 20 years everyone who's really interested in these cars will be dead that's just a fact that's the main reason why they aren't worth anything any more because the enthusiasts and collectors are passing away it will be the same with cars from the 50s next and then so forth. I'm lucky I'm into these cars here in Europe they aren't worth anything for the reasons I've stated above. On a side note they aren't worth the money fixing them up they don't have any re sale value that's another reason why people are losing interest .

During the Mason City robbery Dillenger used a Buick 90 as his get away car. He’d also steal cars prior to a robbery. Dillinger used several cars for his crimes. Like a Studbaker Commander, Essex Terraplane, Buick 90, but he mostly used ford v8’s. After his prison escape Dillenger stole the sheriff’s v8 ford. It was sold at auction last year and Essex is on display. Baby Face Nelson also wheeled a ford v8 for Dillenger’s gang. Well on the run Dillenger did steal a 1930 model A. I’ve never heard a story of a girl being shot in Dillinger’s car. Many bystanders including woman were shot during Dillengers shoot outs with police. His crimes are very well documented. Maybe this car was on the street during the Iowa shoot out. But it’s highly unlikely this Ol’ Ford was used by Dillinger or his gang but it’s still a cool video.😊
