When Clubland was at the height of it's popularity, few would rival the duo of John Doc and John Healy. They were ever present on the circuit for a number of years and built up a sizable following due to their distinctive sounds, with few coming close to The Doc for his ability on the Piano along with his incredible voice and that was very much the same for Healy also.
The Way Old Friends Do was a song that the duo would close their shows with and was always a favorite of those in attendance. After The Doc had went off on his own, it wasn't a number that would be played very often, if at all, when he'd be doing the circuit, however, it was brought back and played in memory of his good friend Healy after his untimely passing and was more prominent in his sets thereafter.
RIP The Doc and John Healy.

The Doc’s album of Easy Listening numbers showcases the staples that were ever present at most of his performances throughout the 1990’s. Between cassettes that were in the collection of both Robert McAllan and Bobby Reynolds, some of the songs have been previously uploaded, however, as there were other performances of certain songs on other cassettes, it’s the first time many of these particular performances are seeing the light of day, in the best possible quality thanks to the last President of Cleland Miners Ian Watt.

Spent a great evening with John Healy, He asked me to go with him to a pub in Holytown where he was singing at a Ladies night. Healy was a brilliant performer

Cheers for commenting, John! By all accounts, Healy was top drawer. BBC filmed at Hasties for a documentary while he was performing, so footage of him does exist somewhere!

As they say, every picture tells a story and none more so than this. This takes a look back in time to a new level! That number sung by the Doc was to become a personal tribute to his old amigo John Healy. May their souls rest in peace. Respect!
