When it comes to trans stuff in the UK things are a little more complicated than what you describe. Most people do support trans people or are ambivalent as you say, but when you ask them about restrooms the support drops a little and when you start talking about care for trans youth like puberty blockers there is even less support. There is a slight difference between men and women and despite terfs being platformed here, women are more likely to support trans people in every aspect than men. I don't know what it is about our culture which makes things worse here when it comes to this, but I would say it is in part due to the lack of exposure, and our more traditional views of gender. When it comes to charities in the Uk mermaids only support kids and parents, I would suggest Stonewall if you care about LGBT in general as well as care and support for trans adults.
