Hi Jeff, what a funny coincidence. This past Sunday I was on Rossmore Ave. looking for a different historic apt. building when I happened to walk by The Mauretania! After reading the historic plaque I decided to do a fast, impromptu vlog about it. Then, today, I decided to catch up on your videos and noticed that you just did an episode about it 10 days ago! What are the odds? I had never heard about this historic building before. I wish I had seen your video before I made my trip. I had no idea Kennedy had sat on those steps. :-)

I have been in love with that building for many many years. Yes, the style is of the Art Deco, but is also a shining star example of the sub-set school of design known as Streamline Moderne. Throughout Los Angeles there are still, to this day a good number of wonderful examples of this special adaptation. Actually not all that far from Rossmore you can find a couple of great larger apartment buildings that showcase very well, and out in Santa Monica on Ocean you can find a glorious hotel that sits I believe near Wilshire Bl and Ocean, (it’s white).

History Hunters, A couple of months ago I visited "The Hospital Of The Good Samaritan" in Los Angeles, California. The old hospital, where Senator Robert F. Kennedy died on June 6,1968, is now closed but the general public still, for the time being, has access to the front doors and canopy entrance which was shown the world over during that long day June 5,1968~June 6,1968. A new hospital has been built on the sight and sits next to the original hospital. The street which was located in front of the old hospital has been closed and is now covered with new buildings. To see the original hospital, you must travel on Wilshire Boulevard to Lucas Avenue and turn left left or right north towards W. 6th Street. The original hospital will be on the left hand side, west, of Lucas Avenue. The hospital has been renamed ~ PIH Health Good Samaritan 1225 Wilshire Blvd Los Angeles, CA 90017 which has a new entrance accessible on Witmer Street a block west of Lucas Avenue. I thought you might do a short feature on the hospital.

Every pic of lbj looking at JFK from behind is sinister and cruel. If a look could kill... Especially on the day of the dastardly murder. Lbj was standing behind JFK in Dallas at the airport and shooting evil looks at the back of JFK'S head and even looks and frowns between the SS drivers Greer and Kellerman, who deliberately slowed down for the shots.

Very interesting. Well done. Re 0:15 to 0:22 -- the people we see at the tail end of that segment are, from left to right, Eugene McCarthy, Lyndon Johnson, Ed Muskie. Really only Kennedy could dominate those massive egos and keep them together; within 8 years, McCarthy and Johnson were at each other's throats. A couple of other points -- Kennedy's speech in L.A. wasn't his best hour, it was hurried and over-strident. Nixon watched it and said, "I can beat this guy on TV." Wrong. (Stevenson was a former Illinois governor, not senator; he was the major threat to Kennedy in '60. Symington pronounced his name SIGH ming ton. The photo of Hubert in the arena is from San Francisco in 1964.)
