Australian John Farnham is the GOAT. He has a big, gymnastic vocal range and sings in over TWENTY genres. He has a 50 year musical career with top hits and recording albums in every decade. John is a charismatic showman with wonderful rapport with his audience. He is well loved in Australia. Always experience John singing LIVE where his Soul energy shines.

@@officialWWM Except that John Farnham is not 'in the business' of singing anymore and has not been for a while. He can only whistle and open his mouth very little. He still has to have more surgery. His bottom teeth were taken out in order for the surgeon to perform the operation on his cancerous jaw. That also required some of John's ribs to be removed to reconstruct the jaw. He's been through a very tough time.

I agree this legend can sing anything you want him to sing he's that good. He loves to interact with his fans, swings the mic stand around even bends down taking gifts while singing a high note just amazing. From rock to opera it does not matter for this icon. Oh and John is loved just as much over here in New Zealand, thank you Farnsy for all the years of the best vocals I've heard.

I grew up with John, in the sence of, Johns singing, being on TV Hey Hey it's Saturday. John was Lead vocals for The Little River Band for a time. I use to see him & have a chat when I delivered Milk & Dairy products to his local small Super Market & shops in Warranwood where John & family lived. I would see John from time to time, usually buying cigarets. Yes, John was a heavy smoker, hard to believe it with his beautiful powerful voice. John is a beautiful natured man, funny, whitty, friendly & kind. John is an Aussie Icon who was NOT appreciated enough for his talented singing skills or as an entertainer. Those of us who have followed John over his career through the decades, love him dearly. 😇

@@the-flatulator He joined them for a time, it was the new beginning for him when Glenn Wheatley got in control of his career. He did get on well with them all, but they didn't mesh very well on stage and John began to feel suffocated and somewhat controlled. But he did learn some extremely important lessons with them and enacted all the lessons when he gathered his own The John Farnham Band. Everyone had a right of say, everyone was included in everything, everyone got a share of the limelight and he found and gathered only the very best. And people with a similar mindset to his own.

The thought of ever losing him, even though I do not know him personally, is actually unbearable to most Australians. Apart from THAT VOICE, he is one of the most incredibly generous, down to earth, funny and caring souls ever. His cancer diagnosis scared us all so much, and we now are just grateful that he is still here, with his beloved family, and about to become a “Pa” for the first time with a grandson on the way! He deserves everything great that life can give him and will be a wonderful grandfather ❤ and we are all just so pleased for him and his family.

Well that was a total and complete joy, listening to John Farnham's emotive and deep/soulful rendition of a an old Beatles classic song, the crowd involvement added an extra layer on top and his range of vocals was great, aided by the backing of the Orchestra, other instruments and it was really lovely too see a Harp on the stage; I see in the comments that John Farnham is referred to as the voice and I can certainly see why, Emma said that she hoped to get the chance to hear him go even higher, that will be a pleasure to listen to down the road; And circling back too Emma, what is their to say, this was simply Emma being Emma with yet another superlative/magical/sincere/ emotional reaction; But all of Emma's reactions in either Music or Film are simply wonderful, being so graceful/charming/fun/witty/ stylish/elegant/genuine and uplifting, and all done with such panache/Joie de Vivre whilst all the time just being so stunningly beautiful; 🦄🥰😍🙏👏👍🙏🎶🎵🎶🎧🎙🍵🍁🍁🦅.

Most concerts were advertised as John Farnham and Band, or his band, or the JF band, this one was John and his Big Band in typical Aussie understatement, it's a 100+ piece orchestra for crying out loud. lol This song is one of the last songs that he would sing at the end of the night after he had already sung his heart out for nearly 3 hours. Some have pointed out that this particular recording of the concert was closer to 2 hours of actual singing during the TV special, but it was also on the 4th or 5th night that he had sung like this. Either way, it was one of multiple nights that he did this on January 4-10, 1989, so his voice is still worthy of the accolades. Not many other singers can belt like that for even 2 or 3 nights without a rest. And besides picking at the exact details or this exact performance, Farnsey also has a way of getting deep into the emotions of your soul. A couple of songs worth checking have been mentioned below, plus these are worth a look also. The reason you haven't heard of him is because the US music industry is a closed little club. When John Farnham went to the US they didn't know which genre to put him in so his US promotions manager got him a couple of gigs in a little jazz club, where the MC introduced him as Jack Phantom. Couldn't even be bothered getting his name correct, so being a bit disheartened he wandered home to concentrate on his loyal fan base. The experience did give him inspiration to write a couple of good songs about missing his family, like this one. -Burn For You.. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aoGzp4Kehdije6M -Angels.. Notice how he holds the mike below his chest, both mikes are a metre away, which he does all the time to not drown out the other singers. JF with Lisa Edwards, a top singer in her own right, and one of John's back up singers for 20+ years. kzbin.info/www/bejne/a5CVf32Ifsl1hZo -Amazing Grace.. To show the calibre of his other back up Singers, showing you have to be good in your own right, just like Lisa. This is Vanetta Fields and Lindsey Field. kzbin.info/www/bejne/lamZf2xqhKqekLM -Please Don't Ask Me.. This one with Olivia Newton John, who we have recently lost. John has also had major cancer surgery including removal of part of his jaw and we may not hear him sing again. So let's enjoy this one as well.. Edit- JF has announced he is free of cancer, but has not mentioned anything about singing again. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aKa5kKeQhKmZgZo -When Something Is Wrong With My Baby.... And even when he is singing with one of the most powerful voices on the planet, Jimmy Barnes, he still put the mike away from his face and closer to Jonny Diesel on guitar. kzbin.info/www/bejne/d4bCk3aZnamKfJY Or this version, both are great, but slightly different.. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iHLPd3uJhbF7ptE -When The War Is Over… Possibly one of his greatest vocals. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ope6o4uZasqBbsk -Or is the greatest. Gethsemane.. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oWbaoICQqaifnqs -How about a mike test. He has the power and ability to distort microphones, blow up amps, and get speaker stacks jumping. So this sort of setting up the venue test is a must. Lol Black Dog. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fGO8mmmKi85gqbc Besides having the best voice ever, JF can adjust his tone, pitch, volume, to match the person he is singing with to either match them or sing just under them depending on who's the head line act, he will even back himself down when he is the head line to give others their moment to shine, and if my ears were sensitive enough, I wouldn't be surprised if he could vary his vibrato, timbre and all of those other things that voices can do so he could accentuate the other singers.

Yes, our John is right up there in the very small handful of the Best Male Vocalists on the planet. He's also a great songwriter. Enjoy exploring more of his work & Hi from Tasmania. ❤

What a beautiful reaction to the best singer of all time. His voice is so versatile. He has tackled and conquered many, many genres. Try to always listen to him live. His studio albums are fantastic, but his vocals when he sings live are even better. Live is where you see John's beautiful personality, and truly amazing vocals. John loves to perform live and it shows. He shines on that stage. He always gives 110% of himself and gives a mind blowing performance every time. I'd love for you to react to John Farnham singing 'When The War Is Over' Live from the Whispering Jack concert.

John Farnham is a rabbit hole you need to go down, there is a good reason why he is called the Voice, he is one of the GOATS, there is no category of music he can’t sing.

It is important to note that this was the last song of a 2 and a half hour amazing concert. John Farnham is a true Aussie icon. Unfortunately he has been battling cancer for some time now and can no longer sing. My first ever CD was Whispering Jack gold edition which is a masterpiece. Great reaction 👏

Thank you for listening to John 'The Voice' Farnham 😊❤ He is a powerhouse singer and very well loved in Australia. Please listen to more, you cannot go wrong with anything you pick from his vast career. If you would like a suggestion though, I would go with You're The Voice from this same concert - I see other fellow Aussies have suggested it also 👍😉❤❤

I loved your reaction to this song! Just gorgeous! Our John is so good he deserves this recognition. Whatever song you react to from John Farnham just make sure that it’s a live version. John is best when he is live (ideally). He is a national treasure here in Australia so read the comments to see what to watch next. My recommendation is Please Don’t Ask Me, duet with Olivia Newton-John (live The Main Event).

He sings any genre from pop to opera. Burn For You, When The War Is Over, The Voice, It’s A Long Way To The Top , Angel,. Has done duets with Olivia Newton John, Anthony Warlow, Tom Jones, Ray Charles, and with another Aussie legend Jimmy Barnes When Something Is Wrong With My Baby. His reactions should be live as their performances are a show in themselves.

This song is a good gateway to 'Farnsey'. Next stop should be 'Burn For You' if you want to hear him at his delicate best in a fairly stripped back ballad. Or 'You're The voice' to hear him in over the top anthemic rock star mode. Best to hear live versions of both so you get to see his crowd interaction.
