Last night we lost John Farnham’s great friend and manager to complications from COVID. Glenn Wheatley started out with his own band. Then he became John’s manager, he also managed the Little River Band that John stepped into for awhile when their singer left. Glenn managed Delta Goodrum as well. He lived near John. They were friends before he was a manager but Glenn realised early on he was better as a manager. He was as lovely as John is and yes, you can walk up to John like you know him. Most wouldn’t invade his space but John would never make you feel like you were intruding or holding him up when he was busy. It kind of feels like we lost a family member too.

Glenn was the bass guitarist for Masters Apprentices before turning to management, fighting for a better deal for performers than the meagre handouts that were the artists' lot. We will miss him. RIP Glenn. Rock on.

Flinder's Park tennis centre has been renamed Rod Laver Arena after our Aussie tennis legend (the only male tennis player to win 2 Grand slams). There are not enough words to describe the talent that is John Farnham, he is an absolute Aussie Superstar and we love him, he is a national treasure, he is just like one of the guys in real life, there is no side about him, just natural. Brilliant, John. Beautiful. First class, moving, perfect. love this song and his vocal on this was just wonderful. Gave us a chance to hear the sound behind the belt. He surrounds himself with wonderful musicians and always pays homage to them. There’s obvious affection between them and many have been with him a long time. There’s actually quite a story of those on the stage … Jack Jones from Southern Sons spent a lot of time with Farnsey, Lindsay Fields playing guitar with the band later to become his long standing backup singer … could go on, but what about his backup singers on this? Superb. Real music, played live, sung live. That’s why you want to join in Mat! Love your review of this. John does have many songs that speak to peace and unity. He was one of the most loved of Australia's pop world. I went to see him in concert 5 times. He is what we Aussies call a real Larrikan. In his concerts he was full of fun and humour and could be quite naughty too. Loved the reaction.
