Yep! That's what you would call a MIC stand DROP these days!! 😊 John is a beautiful, humble, loving, caring very special human being that uplifts your soul & fills your heart with Love & Joy! Our Earth Angel that is beyond talented! Love him! 🙌💗🌟💫✨️🙏🌿🕊🪶

Years ago when he was Johnny he used to twirl the microphone around by the wire and catch it. I've wondered if he stopped because he hit himself in the face too many times or because they were expensive, I used to love to see it. Best singer of all time.

Hey Judith, I remember that too. He's been doing mic tricks at least since the early seventies I think (has anyone seen him doing it earlier than that?) . I have vivid memories as a child being mesmerized by watching John on Perth's channel Seven's Telethon swinging that corded mic like he was going to lasso a bull! Thrilling! I never saw him make a mistake with it. I was hoping the Channel 7 "Spotlight" program that aired on Sunday would have some of that vision, but no. I've searched the internet but cannot find any of John's performances on Telethon. If anyone has that, PLEASE post it. Cheers

Hey mate. The instrument is called a Keytar, ie: keyboard guitar (you almost said it). 😊 I know you hate hearing this due to understandable jealousy, but I was at this very concert (John’s Chain Reaction tour) and it’s memorable because it was my very first Farnham concert when I was still a teenager, and what would be the first of dozens. The reason I mention it is because it was the first time I’d ever experienced a crowd response like this - you can actually hear it in this recording moreso even than his Melbourne Symphony Concert tour which preceded it - and I’m telling you, it’s better than any drug out there. Whilst John knows how to whip up his audience, it’s almost like he doesn’t need to because of the pure joy his songs and their arrangements bring us. That man and his band are a class act (I say as I get goosebumps remembering!)

So true. This was a great tour. I have been to so many of John's concerts and never have I been disappointed! Never. Every show is special and every time you leave feeling on a high, just like every other person at that concert. He's a special artist. He's a special person.

OMG. I remember when Whispering Jack came out and my very young kids put on a "concert" doing dancing to this lovely track. It was wonderful and hilarious and every time I hear this song, I see them, now 44 and 40 and 37 doing their cool moves for their dad and me! Thanks John for the wonderful memory.

John rarely misses with the mic or catching gifts, but when he does, he is not fussed! Great to see you again Charlie. Another amazing performance from this concert is his version of Help, he starts out by singing the Beatles version then morphs into his own! It is interesting to compare the two!

Yeah, the doco "Finding the Voice" said that someone in/with LRB actually taped his mic stand to the stage in an effort to keep John still. IDIOTS! He was doing mic tricks since the early seventies, maybe earlier.....silly people.

Another classic John song. You see why we Australians love “the voice” John. He has such an amazing talent and is a humble down to earth Aussie block. I have been to a few of his concerts and always been blown away by them. He has the same charisma that of the late Freddie Mercury and the same stage presence. A belated Happy Birthday to John we carry you and your family in our prayers❤️

This is one of the reasons we love him so much. His humbleness. He's been taking the piss out of himself his whole career. It's not only very endearing (especially given his gobsmacking talent) but VERY Australian. Missed you and love you too Charlie ❤

Hey Charlie, love watching John with you. You should check out this exact song on the red hot summer tour. He performs pressure down and I think hes 68yrs young in this clip. His vocals are out of this world even in his late 60s. Its a brilliant video shot by a fan.

The best voice/instrument pairing l recall, was back in the late 50's/early 60's; one that specifically comes to mind was Frank Sinartra, as he walk down through the orchestra his voice was moved from instrument to the next as he move. I think this may have been in a movie. My earliest of voice and instrument vocals was with a record(78 rpm) titled Sparky and his Magic Piano. Always fascinated me.

A bit of trivia. We know johns biggest uk hit (You're the Voice at number 6) but he had 3 other songs in the top 100 in the UK. This song was 78, the other two were in the 80's (chart positions) What were they :)

Pretty sure the general consensus is that it wasn't John Farnham, just someone playing a shitty trick, or maybe the artist looking for publicity, so he'd probably prefer to just forget it ever happened.
@TheCharlieSmithChannel Жыл бұрын
@Saan42 these were the claims of the owner of a fan page that wouldn’t back up their source so this definitely isn’t my consensus. I need to contact John’s team to verify. But it definitely wasn’t anyone looking for recognition because a they never asked me to post about it or make a video. I asked if I could and even then I had to wait until they got permission from the Farnhams. I never credited the artist or linked to her website or social media pages, nor was I asked to. She also asked me to take the video down the day after I posted it when John allegedly started getting contacted by the press about it. I don’t see where the benefit would be. This person would have had to get the T-shirt made, forge a letter, spent 50 bucks sending it to me. Who is really getting tricked here and what is the benefit if it was a trick. No one except me was even going to know about it until I asked to make a video after it arrived in the post
@Saan42 Жыл бұрын
@CharlieSmithChannel Ah ok,thank you for that. Apologies, I saw another chamnel owner mention it, and then lots of comments claiming it was fake on that video. Was really disappointed for you if that was the case, so thanks for setting me straight. It's certainly a far nicer outcome for it to be genuine!
@TheCharlieSmithChannel Жыл бұрын
@@Saan42 I mean it could be fake. I just don’t knew yet. Either outcome is equally weird. Either it’s real and some people started a rumour because of jealousy I presume. Or it’s fake and someone went to all that effort and expense for absolutely zero gain. Both outcomes a seriously odd
