John did this concert free for charity. I know he had a sore throat because he has gum in his mouth but he is pretty good at hiding it. How could we not love and respect this man?
@danschiavello Жыл бұрын
John always used to sing with gum in his mouth. It was a trick he learned from someone (I can't recall who, but it was another well-known singer) to minimise his mouth and throat drying out. Whatever he was doing worked!

He was also a life long smoker and worried if he quit he it would affect his voice

John has always known no boundaries with his voice. He is quite simply, the GOAT!! I was at the Carols by Candlelight when he sung this song. It was amazing, and I ended up in floods of tears. He's only 4 years older than me, and I've followed him throughout his whole career. There will never be another to equal this wonderful singer and amazing human being. Thank you for this reaction. I love how much you love our Farnsey. ❤❤

From the beginning of his career in 1967 until 1979 John Farnham was known only as Johnny Farnham, and later he rebranded to John Farnham. Some still call him Johnny 💗

He never shied away from supporting causes he believed in. This was part of a concert raising money for extremely drought stricken areas of Australia. Either prior to this concert or just after, he did another fundraising concert for the people of Rwanda who were escaping terrible genocide… as a 9 year old in australia, the images from Rwanda stuck with me forever and what he did also has never been forgotten at that time

Or maybe just different from a version you’re use to listening to? Listen to small modulations at the end of earlier lines in the song & the placement of runs (like “ singing down the scale”) that individualise this version. This song was written as a Hymn and JF sings it with reverence. ✌️
