If you think John's a great singer (and he obviously is the best), he's an even better person. Even now, at 70 years of age, he's still got a wonderful voice. We're so lucky to have him in our country

John is a classic dag. A dag is the bit of shit that hangs of the bum wool on a sheep...but in the Aussie sense it's an all-round, down to earth, good guy. No pretensions, no hissy fits - he goes out there every time and gives everything to his audience and we love him for it. Sadly, he's semi-retired now but some of us have had fifty years to immerse ourselves in his daginess and loved every minute.
@queenslanddiva3 жыл бұрын
YOu're absolutely right. He's a dag of the first order. That's why Aussies adore him.

Bit of a larrikin hey! The audiences just love him. & still do, even though he's not done anything since the beginning of the pandemic. Still can belt it out in his 70's 🙂

John IS the voice. It is unbelievable that John was not a world star, We love him in Oz, and think he has the best voice going around. He is 72 now and he still sounds as good as ever....

Had the pleasure of meeting John years ago. Such a nice man. It’s like chatting with someone you’ve known for years. A very funny and humble man.

Such a beautiful song by the greatest male vocalist of all time. John’s music is so great and has over 50 years of music we in Australia have been lucky enough to have grown up with and now the rest of the world who haven’t had the pleasure are now finding out how magical John is through these reactions. I love the instrumentation in this song, the instruments that sound like birds and tropical sounds. Awesome performance.

As well as a fantastic singer with a smile that would melt icebergs , he has a fantastic sense of humour, is so very humble and tells silly mother in law jokes. He also says he loves to cuddle his audience . Just so much love for him here in Australia.

It's a measure of his incredible humility that he credits the writer of the song before he sings it.

have you noticed he always acknowledges people he knows in the audience. he really is a humble, nice guy. I am glad to say i have met him socially.

The writer of this song is Ross Wilson. His early 70's band Daddy Cool with its anthem Eagle Rock topped the charts for many many months, this song inspired Taupin and John to write Crocodile Rock. In the 80's his band Mondo Rock attained similar popularity. Ross wrote many songs for his bands, and his solo work is also brilliant.

I was 8 years old in Australia when this album was released. To say it formed a significant part of my (and all Australians growing up in the 80’s) musical upbringing is a massive understatement. I only managed to see him in concert a few years ago. He has an amazing stage presence and is so loved in Australia.

It's really difficult to listen to this song without tearing up. The most beautiful words, beautiful arrangement, hugely talented backing singers and band - and that exquisite, unique voice. Gets my heart and soul every time. ANYTHING by John is just stupendous, out of this world, stratospheric. Yes, dive deeper, Google his biography, family life, videos of his live concerts, interviews, etc. And Google his band members and backing singers - you may be surprised at what you learn. And thank you for posting this video. The song is timeless. 24.10.23. UK. E ❤.

I had to smile when you said that you need to delve further into Farnsey’s music, hope you have set aside a very, very long weekend cause he has lots of music for you to delve into, good luck. I have so many of his songs that are my favourite.

You have started a fine path to discover our favourite Aussie son. I am 71 and first saw him when he was 17 and sang ‘Sadie the cleaning lady’. He is now 73 and his voice is as good as ever. I hope you react to him with his band and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in Melbourne singing ‘ Help’ by the Beatles. You will see how well he connects with the crowd.

So, a happy marriage, a loving family, and a voice that can sing anything, truly, anything. And he is a lovely humble man. Australia is blessed having him. I’m glad you are enjoying him.🥰💙

And you're welcome. You're a Pom, which makes you a part of our beautiful country, he is a anomaly, a voice like John's is so rare

To quote sean bean. One does not simply love one john farnham song. You love 3 quarters of the 3 CD's worth of greatest hits. If I could rank them, which I truly can't it would be 1. You're the voice, the unofficial australian national anthem and the main reason why whispering jack was the most sold album in australia for 30 odd years completely obliterating the sales record of back in black (which everyone on the planet should know about by now) 2. Reasons, for its underrated factor 3. Burn for you, angelic, more angelic than this song is 4. Help, my balls still hurt trying to get near it in the shower lol 5. This song And many, many, MANY others
