He's so great - he's never had a hint of ego about him. He's always been gracious and humble. He said years ago when someone asked him if he ever intended to try to break into the American market that his fame in Australia was enough for his ego. He just seems to love performing and clearly gets a buzz from relating to his audience.

His breath work is insane. We usually sing this song when protesting our government. It sounds amazing with thousands of people marching the street! He's pushing 70 now and his voice is still a powerhouse. He played at a festival last year and the young audience loved him. We grew up with him so it was really nice to see. This song they loved the most, it felt like it was their voice too, empowering. They could relate with everything going on. We had to evacuate due to unprecedented bushfires. 9,000 people!

Modern Renaissance Man You may have noticed the crowds in our awards ceremonies are a little more animated In the audience at video point 3:32 is Glenn Wheatley with his hand on his wife's shoulder/ Wheatley is Farnham's friend and manager. Wheatley had been the bass player in an earlier Aussie band; The Masters Apprentices. When he left that band he went into music management. John Farnham was a long-standing feature in the music industry here... known as Johnny Farnham. He and Wheatley became good mates. Farnham spent time as the frontman of The Little River Band before wanting to do his own thing. Wheatley financed the album - what would become "Whispering Jack" by putting his own house into hock. "Whispering Jack" - which features "You're the Voice" was a massive commercial success and he got repaid the money many times over. He had put his money up to back his mate and it paid off It would also be good if you could look at "Because I Love You" by The Masters Apprentices kzbin.info/www/bejne/pXyoY5ujnN-IndE

As we came out into the parking area with the horse floats, he let me tie my horse to his trailer as I didn’t have a trailer of my own. He had told me his name was John, it wasn’t till very late that day after he left, that I learned his full name was John Farnham. John was a pop star when his was a teenage boy. Now 35 hears later he con do this concert and it cannot be beat, with that magnificent and powerful voice. Any song he sings will never be diminished, because, now one beats his voice.

One of the things that makes him such a great performer is the strength of his voice and his ability, in concert, to sing the last song with as much strength as the first.. an incredible voice ... wel done John Farnham!

Greetings again from down under! To offer a little context to this clip, John Farnham is an Aussie music legend and this was the number 1 song from his 1986 album "Whispering Jack" and is an Aussie staple (you cannot help but sing along). He is performing here at The ARIA (Australian Recording Industry Association) Awards, so many of the crowd in the clip are Australian music identities. As a stagehand at the very first ARIA's I met him back stage and he is such a likable and humble person. I've also seen him live in concert several times and he truly loves and appreciates his audience (going so far as to have the houselights turned up so he can see the crowd singing along) He did a duet with Olivia Newton John at his "Main Event" concert and I would love to see your reaction to their song "Please Don't Ask Me" Once again, all the best MRM and keep those reaction clips coming!

The ARIA (Australian Recording Industry Awards) Awards are the equivalent of the Grammy’s. He was singing to a room full of his peers and younger recording artists. It was wonderful to see even jaded record producers fall under the Farnham spell. He really is the consummate performer with a voice that just keeps on going strong.

I remember the first time I heard this song. I was blown away. I lived on the Canadian border when it was released and only Canadian (Toronto area) radio stations seemed to play it - nothing from the Buffalo market. Heart did a fabulous cover of this.

When John was 70 they didn’t have to change his music at all. He sounded just like that. He is now 72. I loved that you had a blonde couple standing in that video. That was his friend and manager Glenn Wheatley with his wife Gaynor. When no one in America or here would make John’s album whispering Jack. Glenn mortgaged his home to do it. When no one would play it Glenn didn’t give up until the people heard it and demanded it was played. It stayed at number one for 26 weeks. Not even Michael Jackson could move it. That song was the last song put on that album. John and Glenn have always been family to us all. A week ago we lost Glenn to complications from Covid. I don’t think John will sing again and that is our loss but I will understand why.

I love this song , Aussie Anthem. This is a retired John Farnam if you watch the original 80s version his voice was even more powerful if you can believe it. He's actually a beautiful down to earth guy too. ❤🌟

If you want to see him interact with a crowd you need to look for the Concert he did for the troops at Dilli - it was in 1999 I think, they broadcast it and I remember watching it on TV
