When I was very young, 2, maybe 3, John Fogerty's voice was ringing out through my dads Sansui speakers, played from reel to reel, belting out CCR tunes. Indelibly marked on my soul for all time. I cannot hear his voice without tearing back through time, back to innocence and happiness undimmed by age or experience. I'm not sorry about the time that's passed. But I do wish there'd been more songs like this between then and now.

Went to the John Fogerty/John Mellencamp concert at the Hollywood Bowl in 2005. Fogerty opened for Mellencamp. Love both but think it should of been the other way around. At one point during Mellencamps set, John Fogerty joined Mellencamp on stage and both sat side by side playing & singing. After the song, Mellencamp says to Fogerty "Where the hell did you get that amazing voice?" Loved that!

From the album "Centerfield", 1985 Sometimes I think life is just a rodeo, The trick is to ride and make it to the bell. But there is a place, sweet as you will ever know, In music and love, and things you never tell. You see it in their face, secrets on the telephone, A time out of time, for you and no one else. Chorus: Hey let's go all over the world, Rock and roll girls, rock and roll girls. Yeah, yeah, yeah! If I had my way, I'd shuffle off to buffalo; Sit by the lake, and watch the world go by. Ladies in the sun, listenin' to the radio, Like flowers on the sand, a rainbow in my mind. Chorus Chorus Chorus Yeah, yeah yeah!

If I could go "all over the world, rock 'n' roll girls," I'd start with Peru, myryckyz! I'd take this track with me and others by Fogerty. Love how his voice breaks into a bit of falsetto, and the great blast of saxophone is perfect. I met him in 2000 when he ran into a car outside my place, on 16th Ave. South in Nashville (Music Row). Not his best day. Traffic police were over 90 minutes showing up. He was probably glad to move back to Berkeley.
