Wonderful discussion between two great men about another great man. Bobby was the greatest ever English player on the field of play but what set him apart from everyone else was his sheer humility and gentle nature. I met Bobby on several occasions and he was always polite and respectful. He was shy and a little bit odd in his ways but an incredible human being and in my humble opinion, the best representative for Manchester United on and off the pitch. He was Mr Manchester United. We will never see the like of Bobby Charlton again. We don`t make them like that anymore......................unfortunately.

Nicely put. Sir Bobby was a real life superhero. What he achieved after the Munich tragedy is very touching. May he rest in peace and his legacy live forever 🙏❤️

Extraordinary insight from John Giles, Manchester United should employ Giles to give historical testimony on our history in the late 1950`s period..

sir matt busby only made 2 bad decisions in his role, he recommended Bill Shankly for the Liverpool job and he let johnny giles leave Utd and JG went on to be one of best midfielders in the world at Leeds

Shay a loveable rogue? That come as a surprise to me. Just to look at him I would never have guessed it. I actually went to the infant school that Shay's brother taught at. You live and learn. This was really fascinating.

peter on willie morgans podcast he told a story about a winger giving shay a bit of a roasting, sir matt started to bring this up at half time only to find that shay wasnt in the dressing room, apparently he had gone out to the phone to put a bet on!! when he came back sir matt started to raise it again and shay agreed how well he (the winger) was playing! sir matt went mad at him and asked him if he could bother to try and stop him! lol.

I always think old footage of footballers shows how pedestrian the game was compared to today. Even football from the 1980s. Unless you watch the likes of Jimmy Greaves and Bobby Charlton.

The game from yesteryear is better than you think and you show a lack of respect calling them pedestrian. They were real hard men in the 50s onwards till the 2000s. The top teams of the 1960s would wreck todays PL teams.

@@jazzdub4958 Nothing to do with lack of respect. Just a statement of fact. Pretty much every sport has become more professional with greater athleticism and bigger athletes. Clearly you can only judge an athlete/sportsman within their own era but it is self evident that Marciano would be hammered by Fury; Laver would be thrashed by Djokovic; Bolt would outpace Owens; Today's All Blacks would crush the All Blacks from the 1950s. The top teams of the 1960s would be swept aside by today's PL teams unless they were allowed to kick lumps out of them. Very naive to think otherwise.

@@Kaiserbill99 All the flowery preaching from a young FIFA gamer and England still hasn't won the World Cup for nearly 60 years? Nothing is wrong with breaking records, despite some of them standing for half a century in many cases with the benefits of sports science which kinda negates it's own goodness when the actual talent of years past relied on pure talent - not how fast you can run the 100 meters before kicking the ball. Is this the point where you tell me Gab Martinelli is a better footballer than Johan Cruyff because he's so professional and a great athlete? Stop being a clown or join the circus gamer.

@@jazzdub4958 I am 57 years of age you fool. Not sure why the last England world cup win has to do with the price of fish either. It was you who said and I quote: "The top teams of the 1960s would wreck todays PL teams." Quite clearly they would not but that does not make Gab Martinelli a better footballer than Johan Cruyff. I did say you can only judge a sportsman by the era they competed in. I think in boxing parlance the appropriate term is "schooled"
@jazzdub4958
@jazzdub4958 9 ай бұрын
@@Kaiserbill99Claims of being 57 with a mindset of 11. But you did compare stating the professionalism and athleticism is better today ya dummy. Talking of boxing - is Audley Harrison a better boxer than Joe Louis? Surely with better conditions and equipment you'd say yes I think. The last World Cup is important to scrub your weak argument of today must be better and stronger athletes? Always a telltale sign when a newbie uses the term athleticism when talking about a humble footballer. If it's so important why hasn't the England team with all that superior advantage won the tournament? The price of fish is neither here or there when you've lost your argument being a video game football fan. Stick to FIFA and don't disrespect Sir Bobby's era ya prat.
