I saw him last night in Santa Fe - he still has it - excellent voice - excellent show. He really touched some folks with his lyrics - this was one song that literally brought some folks to tears.

I had the pleasure of seeing John and Red Horse in Connecticut. If he ever comes anywhere close to you....hop in the car and make the drive....he is an american institution.

Years after we had moved out and had broken up (back when I was a painter...apartments) I was painting the place that we lived in (uncomfortable in itself) when this song came on the radio. Had to stop and go back the next day to finish the work. Think I left more tears than paint there.

Found this masterpiece in one of those "weekly recommendations" from SPTFY... instantly went up to my top 10 ever. The eyes part reminds me of Monk's episode where he finds a stranger and knows there's something familiar about her and finds a way to talk to her after a lot of investigation. He then realized her eyes were indeed, known to him. Something to do with his dead wife. I didn't lose my wife to death, but to... life. I miss her dearly and I "run into her" all the time... all the time.

John Gorka is the best singer/songwriter out there today and should be after so many years of performing, a recognized, household name. He is also great in concert. Continued success John.

Still brings tears to my eyes after all these years! Beautiful song! I can't play and sing it without tearing up. My son plays it now.
Yeah, the late 1900s. I'm already older than you But this was for my absent daughter with whom I only carried on a phone conversion as she was 3. This conversation (because she somehow inherited my imagination because of those conversations) lasted for a decade and lead to her going to one of the finest art and design schools in the US and succeeding in that world. "Dad", she said to me those decades later, "The reason I went to that school was because of our story." NEVER discount your influence as an active parent, even while absent in the day to day life of your child. And ALWAYS be there for her.

This afternoon I was listening to my favorite Radio Station, MVYRadio - located in beautiful Martha's Vineyard, MA. I heard your song for the first time. Where has your voice been all this time? I have missed it all together! This song transported me to my younger days, remembering a long gone Love. I went to the Google and looked you up. I see that you are my age - we certainly grew up in a Great Time for Music! Then I see that you grew up in Colonia, NJ! I currently live in Avenel, NJ - right off of St. Georges Avenue - grew up in Elizabeth, NJ - I imagine you have been there a time or two! What a small world this truly is! One of my Daughters graduated from Colonia High School. She went on to College in Chicago and decided to stay. She also plays in a band there. Another thing in common, you left here to go West! I just wanted to touch base to tell you that this song is Brilliant, an instant forever favorite for me. Once this Covid-19 stuff is over, I hope to hear that you go on tour, I will certainly go to see you!! Peace!

My friends and I saw you perform last month in Bethlehem, PA at your Alma Mater (Moravian College). You rock, John! I love this song, by the way! Surreal, heartfelt, clever, humorous at points and so so sad and real. What a mix. We love all your tunes. :) Hey everyone.... if John comes to a town near you, go and see him! Buy his CDs! We need to support writers with hearts as warm and souls as beautiful as Gorka's.

Lyrics I saw a stranger with your hair Tried to make her give it back So I could send it off to you Maybe Federal Express 'Cause I know you'd miss it I saw another with your eyes The flash just turned my head I went to try them on for size But they looked the other way And they wouldn't listen But you're never hard to find in a crowd The people around you smiling out loud Their feet don't touch the ground No, their feet don't touch the ground No, their feet don't touch the ground I heard a stranger with your voice It took me by surprise Again I found it wasn't you Just an angel in disguise In for a visit By the way how is my heart I haven't seen it since you left I'm almost sure it followed you Could you sometime send it back I'll buy the ticket But you're…

+John Linehan not sure, but probably someone who isn't familiar with the song. It's totally excusable - John is joking in the lead up to the song, and the first line is misinterpreted.
