One of the world of musics great voices, and a writer of beautiful and telling songs. Everyone one should have John Gorka in their music collection. A great artist!

Magnificent to see and hear these two together. I’ve seen them each perform twice in the mid-1990s, but separately - never as a duet. Gorka’s sadly out of print album “Temporary Road” features this song, plus other gems.

I used watch this show every week... "people love you when you are leaving soon" I saw John in 1987 at Godfrey Daniels... He was singing songs from 'I Know" A witty song writer, a thinking man's Springsteen.

I have chills...I've always loved this song...but this version is haunting.

Such a moving heartfelt song. Beautiful harmony vocals by Kathy Mattea and accompaniment by Mark O'Conner. I am so drawn to the incredible lyrics of this song.

This is so pretty, bittersweet, lonesome, honest and ironic. I love John Gorka.

a year later to answer BJ O'Connor... a pigeon bridge is any bridge you have ever walked under,, the pigeons live in the beams and rafters and crap on everyone that walk beneath. For urban dwellers its a vivid picture..for those that havent had the experience ..oh well. A compass and a sharp knife might be something else you don't understand.

Wow, when is this from? Early 90s?
@nuckingfuts691310 жыл бұрын
Yes, I'm guessing 1991 or 1992.
@MrHmg555 жыл бұрын
@@nuckingfuts6913 Yep, 1992. They both had new albums out at the time, which is why they were booked on the same American Music Shop on TNN. This song is from "Temporary Road," a fantastic Gorka album that he recorded in Nashville with a lot of top musicians there. He opened for Kathy on several tour dates as well, one of which I was lucky enough to see.

@@MrHmg55 'Temporary Road' is a wonderful album. It seems he travels from one end of meaning to another; it is truly a journey when one listens to it.

Maybe it's the capo, but there's a string so out of tune on his guitar that I can't listen to this.
@morganellington62152 жыл бұрын
same here, it's his low E string. Capos often make a string sharp. Bummer as I love this tune
