John Lydon, the punk icon known as Johnny Rotten, has always been portrayed as a vicious person, devoid of dignity or kindness. But that couldn't be further from the truth. This vídeo (w/british bloke narrator) delves into a series of interactions where he not only demonstrates his kindheartedness but also his humility. (reupload w/narration)

When i was little i got to meet Johnny. He picked me up after i yelled his name on the sidewalk. Twirrled me around and said i had the cutest mop of curls hed ever seen. Thanked my parents for introducing me to all kinds of music and had the sweetest smile when he talked to me. All i really remember is his smile and the spin, my parents filled in the rest as i got older. Ill never forget the happiness that me being so little, i knew who he was.

I was 13 when John came into my life with his music. He taught me to speak out, he taught me to name crap crap and injustice injustice. I`m 60 now. I had a lot of trouble because of being honest and just saying how things really were from my point of view. I paid a price for being honest but i never had any regrets. I`m 60 now and i see a John Lydon who did not change anything. He is real. Most people aren`t

He was witty without being condescending or political, and showed genuine interest in the people he was interviewing. I would love to see more of those episodes.

Yes he always struck me as someone that sees through other peoples BS, and has a kind heart. He is the one that had all the guilt over what happened to Sid. He admits letting go of Matlock was a mistake. Even on the Grundy thing he looks like a little kid and is trying to behave “nothing, a naughty word, next question” And his lyrics often are about exposing the hypocrites and liars amongst us. Be well, John

John sang it himself back in 1978. "You never listen to a word that I say, you only see me for the clothes that I wear..." Everyone just buys into the image without realizing that he's actually a very kind, sensitive and intelligent human being. Back in the Pistols days he would even dress up as Father Christmas and entertain children. His autobiographies are well worth reading and offer some fascinating insights into his life.
