I'm sorry, but that last Penalty Box comment really irked me. I don't get this whole "Christians should always wear suits" thing. Do these people realize that dressing like it's the 1950s doesn't make one Holy? Do they realize that if we were back in the 50s, that style of dress would be considered contemporary, like a t-shirt is today? Do they not realize that if we used that logic 70 years ago, the pastors of that era would need to be dressed in Victorian-era clothing to be considered mature by their standard? But the Todd Friels of the world would have you believe that if you don't dress in a suit and tie everyday of the week, then you're not a mature Christian.
@ataxcollector695
@ataxcollector695 6 ай бұрын
On top of that, do these people know how expensive suits are? Like, for 3 suits, you're dropping over a G easy.

In some churches it’s having kids, in some churches it’s having a job, I guess in some church it’s wearing a suit - but my guess is people are always looking for a way to feel that bit superior. (I say this as a guy who doesn’t wear a suit or have a job or any kids😂)

No they don't. The irony of men who worship a God that essentially lived like a hobo (unless someone took him into their home) telling you to wear a suit because "you want to look your best for Jesus" is lost on them

@@ThisisPam Justice is a generic term that refers to making a wrong right. Social justice is making a wrong right on behalf of a group of people, which makes the action itself much more complex.

Solid answer. To go further, isn’t that was Jesus did for us? Make a wrong right on behalf of a group of people? How does it become undesirable if one adds “group of people” to the definition? Honest question. I’ve heard an implied distinction often in my life, but it seems ti be more about not believing certain groups are deserving of justice, while other groups are deserving.
@jeremiahdavidtindall9339
@jeremiahdavidtindall9339 6 ай бұрын
@@ThisisPam Jesus was perfectly just, so yes, he did accomplish justice. How that justice is applied to specific persons depends on the response of faith verses unbelief. That justice was made for all people, however, not all will accept it and, therefore, not all will benefit from it. In that sense, the right he wronged is not positively applied to all but it is available to all according to the terms which are activated by believing in his provision (which is actually activated by God himself). Social justice typically groups people together to apply "justice" in a blanket way that is not possible due to the complexities of sin and the many variances that exist within each individual.

In my experience people make ad hominem attacks because they don’t like what you’re saying when they don’t know why they disagree/why their emotions are up or at least can’t articulate why or they are unwilling to give a reason because they can’t tolerate people responding to their own ideas. Why don’t people ask “would I say this to them in person” before they post or say nothing?! This sort of thing makes me crazy and I hope it gets better

John MacArthur is due all respect as a pastor and biblical scholar, IMO However he'll be 85 years old in a few months and I think should have retired from full time ministry by now. Not saying he shouldn't preach or remain active in some capacity, but there comes a point where we all should recognise we aren't that young anymore and thus pass the reigns on to younger people. Hanging on for too long is rarely a good thing to do.

Interesting observation. Even if the elder elders are still sharp, a good leader needs to delegate, and delegate early. "Work yourself out of your job" is what they say in the military.

MLK went to a very liberal seminary (Crozier) when he was a very young man. His views may or may not have changed as the years went on. He definitely had moral issues. However, only God knows whether or not he died as a true Christian.

True. A church we were involved with for many years was “sold out” on CJ Mahaney and would only sing Sovereign Grace songs, etc. They just quietly let it all go by the wayside, pretending everything was fine.

On the JMac thing I believe he is still sore over how they (T4G) filled their taxes on the second conference siting John as a payed expense meaning he is not a member. Also he wasn’t paid for the first one . Also Al Muller left the organization over an unreconcilable difference. He never said what , but noted it was due to a tilt of the organizations beliefs Now on Wilson . That’s nuts . Scary thing is he may win a few of his claims . Lately companies have won lawsuits on the simple fact a review of a company’s product discouraged people from buying. That and the law firm he hired is the same one that won millions from Fox News over the voting machines. Great variety of topics Dean Good video ( and liked ) Blessings Bill

JMAC and GCC thinks Christianity revolves around them. They apply standards that they don't apply to themselves. Funny how they didn't want certain speakers, but it was ok the film an episode of Grey's Anatomy on the campus.

I just heard from the man of the channel DTBM say that when he was at some event with J.Mac, J.Mac kept leaving the best part of the meal on his plate, so the man asked him, and J.Mac said he usually always does that, to tell his flesh it's not in charge. He may be extremely strict with others, because he's been so strict with himself, so as not to end up disqualified. I have huge respect for the man. I don't know who you are and why you're fit to weigh in on this.

So John MacArthur can't be criticized? Speaking as a former MacArthurite, the more you find out about GCC and the Master U abuse and rape cover-ups, the more you will wake up to the fact that he is more of a cult leader than a shepherd. And hopefully, that will open your eyes to see that the true Shepherd will always be Jesus, not some cranky old man who puts people down for a living.

I'm sorry -- You don't know why Dean is 'fit to weigh in on this'? What the hell does that mean? There's some minimal level of "fitness" that Dean must demonstrate in order to comment on the words and actions of the Great John MacArthur? Pray tell -- what level of fitness is that? And how is it determined? You relate the story of John MacArthur not eating the best part of his meal "so as not to end up disqualified." I would think that his actions --and inactions-- in the Eileen Gray debacle disqualified him decades ago. JMac can eat pretty much anything he wants to -- his diet will not "re"-qualify him .
