John MacArthur's Garbage Depression 'Advice'

This guy kinda drives me nuts... but the last straw was learning that he believes there's no such thing as mental illness. Just... ugh.

Nothing garbage about what he said. Are yoiu unaware of Chris's Own words, Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. You even played a clip where MacArthur suggested there wasn't time for such things because the glory of God overflows from being immersed in His word. Sounds rather that you are the one with problems and rather what you say is garbage.

John has done great work for millions so don't write him off so quickly. No one is perfect or has all the answers. Also, life is so complex that the same answer that works for some may be disastrous for others. So give him some grace please. I have been depressed for 20+ years and one thing i have learned is many will never know what its like. Regardless of their expertise in science, medicine, therapy or scripture, nothing compares to first-hand prolonged immersive experience. Nevertheless scientist, doctors, therapy and pastors are immensely helpful. Thanks for this video. I think its a valid and discussion worthy concern.

I get what you're saying but I haven't seen much good from him that I don't also see in other pastors. He is very divisive and is in a very influential position which is why people are speaking out against his stance on mental health. You are absolutely right that people who have never experienced it don't have the same take on things and really can be quick to judge. I don't claim to know either... But you and many others are experiencing a very difficult battle and I just imagine his words must add insult to injury 😔

Yeah... theres plenty other pastors to listen to that know the word and don't have women submit to husbands that SA their own kids. Not Christ like at all. May there be justice for Eileen Gray. It should be noted there can be physical or spiritual causes to what we experience. For anyone who has been struggling with certain sins or negative feelings you may want to consider deliverance. There are so many testimonies of people being delivered from addictions, anxiety, grief, and many of the like. I have been delivered from a spirit of self deletion. Thank God for Jesus The Deliverer!

The Holy Spirit is the key. Just like the bible says Be Anxious for nothing....we allow our thoughts. We choose to not cast them down and we choose to feed them. I deal with people pleasing and Adhd but also with the Holy Spirit and prayer. Because I am saved I can go to Jesus and recieve peace from my issues
