A combo of things in my life (negative school experiences, trauma, a narcissistic relationship) led me to a place where I realized I didn't really care about anything except my immediate comfort.
At the end of the video I give a tidbit of encouragement for anyone else who is in this situation and is living with repressed emotions and an inability to really feel anything.

sadness was my favorite emotion for a while after I got out of a deep depression and discovered I could feel sadness again (some people mistake the 2 but sadness is so much lighter and more beautiful), but lately shame has become my favorite emotion. it's so fascinating and humbling! 😅🤣

I often have these feelings as well, and also play the comparison game partly due to social media, even though I know I shouldn't, and what you see online isn't even 10% of someone's life. I don't compare as often as I did when I was younger, but it still pops up sometimes. I have self confidence issues too as you said "I'm not good enough to do that so why even try"

True, you don't ever see 100% of someone's life. I think comparing yourself can be useful if you're using it as inspiration to get better, but not if it's for the sole purpose of beating yourself up for what you're lacking (which is pretty easy to do on the social meeds)

I had a very similar journey. Now feeling stuck in a rut, four years out from the NEX. Now, just this week, starting to see myself becoming an individualized human being. Hint: being. I was a people pleaser too 😅

I appreciate your journey, I do. But surely you remember a nice childhood? or do you? I have c-ptsd. I didn't have a childhood, so for 20 years, it was filled with abuse and neglect. I have been in therapy for over 20 years and still have anhedonia, dysregulation, depersonalization, and more. No hopes or dreams.

My childhood did have a lot of positive aspects to it to balance out the negatives, yes. The bulk of the trauma I speak of actually happened in adulthood. I hope that you find the healing that you absolutely deserve and know you absolutely should not have experienced what you did

Summer plans? I do have a camping trip planned in a couple of weekends and then a week after that I am renting a sailboat for the day and taking my daughter out on Narragansett Bay. Neither of us knows what we are doing very much so it will be an adventure lol

Of course you care about something. But your true self is hidden from you. You need to step by step reveal it
