John MacArthur: The Nonnegotiable Gospel

He teaches a false gospel. The true gospel is the good news of the Person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ. In other words, it is concerning who Christ is and what He did to save His elect only. The gospel includes the how and why, which can only be seen by faith. It is a message that declares how the eternal Son of God came down, took on a body of sinless flesh (John 1:14) as He was born of a virgin (Mat 1:23). He was both God and man in one Person. He was born under the Law to keep and fulfill it (Mat 5:18, Gal 4:4). He did that, not for Himself, but for all those He represented because they could not keep it themselves. The word of God calls these people the elect or His sheep, among several other names. His obedient life also included the part of dying. He took on the sin of His people as both a Substitute and Representative of those people. The Bible said He was "made to be sin" (II Cor 5:21) and the way that was done is by God imputing (legally reckoned or charged to the account of) sin to Christ. That means all the sin of all those people God chose was "laid on Him" (Isaiah 53:6). This sin was legally transferred to His account and He then owned it in such a way to be guilty of it all. God the Father poured out His wrath and hatred toward sin on His Son and had pleasure (Isaiah 53:10) in doing so, in that, He was completely satisfied in Christ as a Sacrifice that met all the demands of His strict Law and inflexible justice. Christ finished the work of paying the penalty of the Law and then said " It is finished" (John 19:30). He secured salvation for all God’s chosen people that would even be born. His resurrection is evidence of the acceptance of His sacrifice to the Father. The combined work of His obedience to the Law and His obedience unto death on the cross was considered establishing righteousness. This is what one of the Old Testament prophets prophesied as "bringing in an everlasting righteousness" (Daniel 9:24) as Christ died effectually and exclusively for those chosen of God before the world began (Eph 1:4). This righteousness is what God imputes to His people in the context of giving the life to believe in Christ. This puts them in a state called "Justification" and as a result they are eternally secure, in Christ. This is the gospel (Rom 1:16-17). All this takes place in such a way to show God as both a God of justice and a Savior. This is how grace reigns through righteousness (Rom 5:21)

I know how deeply you feel and think because I have also been taught by John MacArthur for the 42nd year straight now 5 weeks after I became a Christian the Lord led me to him on the radio and have listened five days a week in red at least 75 of his book study books probably closer to 100 books he is a blessing too Christian's which is just like the Lord isn't it he already gave us his very best won't he give us all that which is less than the best as well of course he will we are the most blessed people on earth and while everyone is talking about their group identity we need to remember that we believers have an Infinity eternal identity as Christians amen

A lot of preachers seem to only preach what people want to hear, and not what the Bible says. Take the TV-evangelists or Joel Osteen as an extreme example of 'non-biblical'. I use biblical as the opposite of that. Lloyd Jones has been dead for 50 years, so I don't think my praise will harm him :). Concerning McArther though, He doesn't seem like a particularity prideful person(?).

My thoughts are, when any Christian leader starts writing a lot of books explaining the Bible you have to be careful, even John MacArthur. The best thing to do is just read the Bible directly. And I think most Christian books are mostly right. But people are reading way too many Christian books from Christian writers and not enough of the Bible directly.

You are correct, but don't ever forget that God gave some to be pastors and teachers. We need these men of God to lead us, to make sure we are well read in the scripture. To help keep us from accepting error. It's a balance. And likewise we need to test everything they teach, like the Berean's in the book of Acts. We need both. I've listened to JM for over 25 years now and have yet to see a need to raise a red flag. But I still examine his teachings and thank God for him.

MacArthur's perverted gospel requires a person to make a continual effort to live above sin as part of salvation. If you claim to trust in Christ, but don't live holy and surrender your life to Christ, then MacArthur says you're not saved. That is a hellish false gospel that Ray Comfort, Kirk Cameron and Paul Washer all ascribe to.

Lorship Salvationists have cultic mindsets in the fact that they"are the only true Christians and they are the only ones who preach the truth". LS think that if someone sins too much then their not truly saved. Is this not thinking they are like God and able to know uf someone is saved or not? They say there is no such thing as a carnal Christian which is unbiblical and proven false by all the apostles behavior and according to 1 Corinthians as well. I guess LS teachers shoukd rewrite the Bible and take 1 John 1:9 out of it-- if we confess our sins the He forgives us hence were going to sin after being saved. And yes John is addressing believers here and they were already saved. To say that a Christian cannot be carnal us like saying that Jesus' sacrifice on the cross only covers sin up to a certain point instead of all sin. Its Pharisee-ical hypocrisy! ! In his book, Faith Works: The Gospel According to the Apostles, MacArthur states: "Any doctrine of eternal security that leaves out perseverance distorts the doctrine of salvation itself. Heaven without holiness ignores the whole purpose for which God chose and redeemed us" (pg. 182). "Peter is saying categorically that the essence of what it means to be a Christian is to love Jesus Christ. In fact, there may be no better way to describe the essential expression of the new nature than to say it is continual love for Christ" (pg. 185). John MacArthur clearly teaches that every believer is NOT assured a home in Heaven. According to MacArthur, one's salvation is DEPENDENT upon the life he or she lives. This is the damnable heresy of Lordship Salvation!

Reinforce yourself with these truths: God does love you & has compassion & forgiveness for you. He does hear you. Read Psalms. A good comforting book of the bible. If you have a concordance in the back of your bible, look up compassion, forgiveness etc. Find verses that says his God loves & hears you etc. Build up your faith this way. There is nothing more truer than God's word. Satan would have you discouraged & from reading the bible. Don't listen to his lies. Listen through God's truthfully words in the bible what good God wants for you.😍
