He starts off talking the queens English then suddenly switches to broad Glaswegian

That’s the period when I first started going to John Martin gigs whenever he turned up in the north east. I still listen to the apprentice and cooltide regularly - a departure from his previous style but I loved it. Maybe not for everyone, and maybe he recognised that, as he always played a bit of everything from his back catalogue. He was a real crowd pleaser, mesmerising guitarist, powerful singer, and great craic

I do believe I would have given up, not my right arm, but seriously a digit, to have seen him playing in Chicago. I can imagine it was quite the sight to behold. Had no idea...damn! ❤☮🌎

John's dual accent is like his music in that it can be very harsh yet pretty soft too...miss his antics and blinding talent

Had a barroom fight with John Martyn in '92. Told me he was a Freemason. I called it the mafia of the mediocre.( He lost his temper) Still had a major influence on my songwriting and musical performance. Have a listen.

It’s a shame he couldn’t get off the sauce, a great talent, he wasn’t the nicest of people though.
