kuddos... I'm a bit older than you and found the Bluesbreakers album in a record store in Ann Arbor Mich when it first was released in the states in 1966. I wore out 3 copies and could sing most of the solos... they were that melodic... kuddos also go to Freddie King and the other pioneers who influenced Eric.

Only a guitarist of a certain age can appreciate the contribution(s) of Eric Clapton to rock and roll guitar.. The Bluesbreaker album is one half of the equation; Hendrix' Experienced is the other half. End story. Everything else is either pre or post and less....beautiful. Thank you, Fran!

Excellent rendition. 👏👏 If I put my critical musical hat on for a moment, some notes, particularly towards the end were not played with the subtle vibrato that makes the notes have feeling, but that is what makes Clapton the master he is- every note he plays has feeling. Yeah and I know, I am a perfectionist when it comes to guitar playing.😅

Although I think this type of tune is well played out in the modern time, this version is - dare I say - better than Clapton's version as it's more in the pocket than his was. Sorry, I know he's God to some, and I think he more than proved his status as the genuine original guitar hero and song writer. But if you listen to the original recording, he is kind of loose in the beat pocket - unlike this bloke - who is right in there with a better swing to this tune.

yes he can replicate the licks but...not the TONE....a 1960 Les Paul into a cranked Marshall JTM-45 and Clapton's fingers made that TONE
