Is there ANYTHING John Mayer can't do and do exceedingly well? What sets him apart is that he has CLASS and brings it every time. Every generation produces one standout guitarist/musician/vocalist and John Mayer is one of those all-time Greats!

What a great performance, I didn't realize John would do a song so important to me. I remember back in 1963 this song played by Jai & Kai spinning on the old Philco stereo, while everyone else is sleeping. I had my Koss headphones so as not to disturb, I was 11 yrs old.

That's cool, I hadn't known headphones went back that far! (Not that it's that long ago, I just mean you learn something new every day!)

I think this is wonderful, not because "Mayer is better" than Sinatra, but simply because I see it as him playing homage to one of the great singers of all times. Furthermore, by playing this he may introduce a bunch of people to Sinatra who never would have listened to him. I think both versions are wonderful. Although in Sinatra's case he went into the studio right after he got dumped by his girl at the time, so he was heartsick and I think you can hear it.

Very nice effort. By no means my favorite version of this song but the musicianship is top notch. More than anything I'm very impressed with Mayer's developing depth and breadth as a musician. He's very subtly introduced Ray Charles, Jimi Hendrix, Otis Redding and now the great Frank Sinatra into his repertoire. He's reintroducing standards of American pop music to listeners that would have never discovered them on their own. Bravo Mr. Mayer!

Sinatra sang this song first in 1956, when he was at his best vocally! If you'd like a real treat, check out Frank Sinatra "In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning." It is truly beautiful!!
