History of reverb next please!
@JustinJeske3 жыл бұрын
There is nothing to really say in terms of reverb. Usually Amp verb and the odd rack unit that’s it!
@OLDGUYSK8R3 жыл бұрын
@@JustinJeske I’ve seen a flint on his board before so wasn’t sure if there’s maybe been more.
@JustinJeske3 жыл бұрын
@@OLDGUYSK8R yeah I mean the Flint’s mail use is for the Trem side. John has rarely used the reverb side. The Neunaber Slate for Love On The Weekend as well but that’s a one song thing!
@OLDGUYSK8R3 жыл бұрын
@@JustinJeske gotcha. When he was demoing his PRS amp at namm I believe also he used the flint to add reverb for the amp. Could be wrong but I thought that’s what he said. I’ve seen others ask but would be cool to see a video on gain stacking!
@JustinJeske3 жыл бұрын
That’s totally possible cause the JMOD does not have built in reverb. But he used the Bricasti M7 units to take care of that for actual shows and performances. The only time I’ve ever seen him use the Flint’s reverb side in an actual live performance setting is during the 2019 tour when he felt like some bigger reverb sound but even then, it was not common at all. Yes gain stacking for sure I’ll talk about!

At 6:18, what's that Boss enclosure pedal between the Flint and Providence?
@JustinJeske3 жыл бұрын
That’s the CE-2! Just painted black and possibly modded.

Loving your content man. Do we know if John ever makes use of tap tempo functionality, or does he tend to set and forget? I know he has the Providence pedal for example, but just wondered if TT is a feature he actually uses.
@JustinJeske3 жыл бұрын
He does a bit of both! But he for sure uses tap tempo! There are a few instances I’ve seen during the 2019 Tour you could watch him tapping in the time!

Amazing videos man! Since the AP1/2 version of the Aqua-Puss is so difficult (and expensive) to get a hold of. Would you recommend getting a MKII or the MKIII Smalls for John Mayer sounds?
@JustinJeske3 жыл бұрын
This is tricky. The MK3 is closer to the MK1, but John keeps on using the MK2 when he uses a reissue, not the MK3. And he has both. So I guess if you want the one he mainly uses then MK2, closer tone, the MK3

Great video dude. I have a MKii aqua puss and a chrono delay. Both are brilliant pedals. Settings on the aqua puss are easy but do you have any suggestions on John’s settings on the chrono delay?

Im in the market for a new delay, cant decide between the Providence Chrono or the Free the Tone Flight Time, opinions?
@JustinJeske3 жыл бұрын
I mean I’ve never played the Flight Time but I want one. I think you honestly cannot go wrong with either. Flight Time might be overall a better delay though.

Great video! Analog into digital or digital into analog? I have a aqua puss mkii and boss dd3, I use analog into digital, what do you think? Tks!
@JustinJeske3 жыл бұрын
I don’t really care at all about Analog and Digital when thinking about delay order. I don’t think John does either. It’s more about having the slapback before the longer delays if he does need/choose to run them together.
@henkkman3 жыл бұрын
Great niche content! Where does he put the CE-2 in the signal chain?
@JustinJeske3 жыл бұрын
I have a whole video series on Signal Chain! But long story short he goes between after delays and before. I don’t think he is using it before the drives for Last Train Home I think it’s after drives before delay. More evidence is needed for this though!

@tommawson11193 жыл бұрын
Is there a lot of difference between the two providence delays? What would make him (or anyone) choose one over the other?
@JustinJeske3 жыл бұрын
Yes there is. While the Chrono is the successor, the 80’s is a different thing. The repeats are darker, it over all sits in the mix differently, and does the TES thing better imo. But the Chrono has the A/B feature, the digital screen and tap tempo. So it has got a better feature set.

Does he use a long delay in Belief WTLI? Solo only?
