Back in the Cambridge Massachusetts of 1979 I saw John playing hammer dulcimer on the sidewalk. I thought it was great. I made sure to remember his name.

Saw him at a tiny little music hall in my hometown. There were only about 15 people there, but those 15 people got a show worthy of a much larger crowd.

Lovely to hear John again. I first heard him at a kid's concert at Katoomba Public School in the mid 1990's and loved his kid's songs so much I taught them to my pupils each year till l retired in 2010. Three of the girls got to sing on stage with John at a return visit in 2010 which unfortunately, I was unable to attend. A wonderful song writer and instrumentalist.

Wow-- just heard about this artist on the radio the other day and I instantly was drawn to his music!Just going through youtube clips now. "Kindergarten Wall" is my favorite song of the week. Beautiful and haunting piece, this.

Hello Marianne, Yes, I like this artist's music too. Direct and Intense. I like the way he tunes the instrument as part of the song... very nice...

I heard him in concert last night. That tuning sound represents a whale song.

I wonder if this is the same John McCutcheon I used to see in Elkins, W.Va. back in the early 70s

Probably, asin ʻ74 I knew a friend from Oak Ridge who grew up with him who also played hammer dulcimer and inspired me to build 2 for a friend and I.

Terry Hill He would have graduated high school in Wisconsin in about 1972. So possible.

I went to one of their dance weeks where he was definitely part of the staff.

John McCutcheon was on the staff a lot in the early years of the Augusta workshops. This is definitely the same person. I've known John sind the mid-70's. My husband has built several of the dulcimers that he plays.

Yes, most definitely. I traveled from Boone NC all the way to Big Stone Gap VA to hear a very young John McCutcheon in 74 or 75. Life changing.
