Written by the godfathers of Australian 70's rock, Harry Vanda and George Young. (Yes, brother of Angus and Malcolm). They also wrote most of JPYs other songs including Love Is In The Air and my fave, Standing In The Rain. Vanda and Young were in the Easybeats and later recorded under the name Flash in the Pan.

This song was written by Vanda and Young from ( The Easybeats)…. About being recognised by face but not name hence Yesterday’s Hero…. They went on to become In house producers for Alberts Records Australia and wrote many songs for many Aussie Artists… and provided JPY with plenty of hits.

Dei here. GREAT request by CoolTruckPics! I don't really want to touch this one with a 10 foot pole. This is a rabbit hole you may very well fall down and never been seen again. John Paul Young, Vander and Young, The Easybeats, AC/DC... It's just a whole world of amazing in itself. I don't have a lot of content on my own channel, but I just so have happened to see Midnight Oil on the night after George Young passed away and caught their dedication song to him (though the stupid phone took sooo long to focus!). These really early songs are a fair way before my time, but it was great to see things. Thanks, CTP!

Fun fact: this song became his first hit and largely due to the film clip. The film clip was produced for an Australian TV show called 'Countdown'. They got teenage girls to mob him in the film clip and he became an overnight sensation. The girls in the film clip had no idea who he was. Lol. But he was pretty cute back in the day, had a great voice (still does) and it's a cool song. I've seen him a few times live. In Australia, we have tribute concerts done by big names - he often is part of the ones for the Beatles along with Jack Jones and Glen Shorrock (of Little River Band) and they play with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. He's great fun on stage.

@@iainsmith2434 I had no idea so I had to google. While he was born in Glasgow like George, Malcolm, and Angus Young, he is no relation. George Young (being Malcolm and Angus big brother) and Vanda did sign him up to Albert records in 1981 and did write for him and produce him. So he was on the same label as Acca Dacca, The Angels, etc
