i like the quote from damon "alot of people like to go on about how they loved john but i haven't seen many behave the way he behaved on the radio" championing good music in other words...

his affect on music in the 60s 70s 80s was massive and will probably never be known

Couldn't agree more, I think there's a direct line between John's death and the state of music in the present day

4:42 This is what annoys me about music lovers, and I used to be like that in a way. Just like whatever you like! Not because it's deemed good or cool or hip...John Peel's musical taste was not good or bad, it was his - he liked what he liked, that's it. There's no such thing as guilty pleasure in music, you like it, or you don't, it's not even a matter of choice. John Peel's musical taste doesn't have to be a reference. Put a record on, and it clicks with you or doesn't. The rest in meaningless.

john peel had the guts to say yeah i like quo or Sheena Easton. What mattered to him was do i like it is it a fun tune.Ok we may disagree but he wasnt worried about being cool .He didnt have to he was

3:35 "It's worth a fortune that", he says, holding the 7" with no care at all of getting it dirty. There must have been a reason for Peel to keep the singles in a small box!

The take on T.Rex is one-sided, a bit...Apparently, John Peel liked each new single by T.Rex less and less, and didn't like "Get it On" at all - apparently Bolan thought it was the best thing he's ever done. Bolan's gigantic ego was hurt and the two men fell out.

Surprised though why he ignored G.G.Allin.....who made a lot of shit (literally) , but had a few interesting ditties....that were made for John's unconventional boX......

John might be god,he wasn't unfallible though...Status Quo in their early 7t's incarnation is a case in point....bloody awful..not even a "guilty pleasure"...
