That's one that I will definitely do when I get more time. I also don't have choir libraries that can programme syllables as yet, still need to get a hold of a library that does it well. When I do, you know exactly which piece I'm mocking up next haha :))

Awesome mockup! What do you think about the Strezov choir essentials library?
@SamuelStalderOST3 жыл бұрын
I think it's amazing, it's perfect if you just want a choir sound to go along with your music, you don't mind the vowels, words and whatnot. The interface is really easy to use, the legatos work like a charm. Unfortunately, modulation/expression doesn't have too much of an effect on the choir. You'll have to volume automate it to balance it in the mix. However saying that, there's some sort of magic that's in those samples, because it works everywhere, no matter the intensity of the piece you are making, it will fit like a glove. If you want that shouty sound like here, it can do it with increased volume. If you want a more ethereal sound, you just need to lower the volume and it will just fit the mood. I don't know how it does it without modulation xD, but it just works haha.

I love the soundtrack for this film. Do you think you could do more? Like Into whoville? Because what interests me about this film is its use of saxophones, which you don't hear often in orchestra. What I mean is, I just like the way the saxophones sound in this film, especially the contrabass saxophone. Sorry if I'm explaining too much...
@SamuelStalderOST3 жыл бұрын
No your not explaining too much, and I completely agree :). They use a lot of sax, and not in the traditional way, but kind of like adding and extra distortion and drive to the orchestra. Saxophones are also good at playing fast low notes, unlike their orchestral counterparts - Clarinet, Bass Clarinet and Contrabass Clarinet. All of these reasons are why they are perfect for the way the score sounds, it just brings a new freshness to the classical orchestra sound. As for more mockups from Horton, I do plan on doing more, but they do take a long time to do as you can imagine. This one alone took about 35h cumulatively and it was just two minutes! The way I go about it is just doing a bit each day. For longer pieces, it can take about a month to do. This one took about two weeks. I've already started on one from the Lorax. It won't be the next upload, but it'll come in due time, after that, I'll probably work on another Horton cue. I'll keep your suggestion in mind when choosing so keep your eyes out for that when it comes :))

Great stuff! what mics are you using on your woodwinds?
@SamuelStalderOST3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Vega :)). To answer your question, I'm only using the tree mics. Although I do have mid-side processing in conjunction with MeldaProduction's reverb engine with EW Spaces IR's to give it that scoring stage ambience.
