I genuinely believe Dale is doing all these intentionally. There is no way in hell he told Joseph that Redcorn was a cannibal and that it was completely something he too believed

Because John doesn't want to ruin everything. It pains him but he knows he can't reveal the truth without suffering any consequences. I guess this is probably why Nacy is worse because she got to have her affair and kept her marriage without suffering any consequences.

Dale knows his wife is cheating on him but he can't accept it. So while partially knowing the truth, he copes with this truth by telling himself that he's wrong; that he's probably just distrustful and paranoid. This is why he intentionally leans into conspiracy theories: to reinforce his self-image of a being of being a crazy, overly suspicious man, so that he doesn't have to completely accept the truth about his wife. It's all an incredibly complex denial of reality. He never "catches on" to the obvious signs or even when people tell him, because he already knows.

I know that some people were told stuff about me without my knowledge and when they leak it out to me as a joke, I act stupid/clueless to them but in my mind, it’s dashing/questioning something like “Ok I didn’t tell these fucks about this part of my life but I know someone who I told and is also connected to these fools.” It’s a tactic that does wonders for me, I act stupid and when the time is right, I go to that person who I told and confront the mfer about it. With Dale, he knows but doesn’t care because he loves Joseph as if he is his son and he also sees it as a poetic justice, tho his wife cheated on him he came out victorious in the process. For one, he loves his son and 2. Bc of his love to his son, it’s ruining the lives of John Redcorn and his wife (who will carry the guilt till the truth comes out).
