The reason he didn't was because Bob fitzsimmons was able to go from middleweight to heavyweight and back down to light heavyweight. Roy wanted to push the limits and see if he could do what fitzsimmons did or even more. He was never going to have a happy ending because it would never be enough. Either way, he is definitely in the conversation for goat
