After John Tavares opted to sign with the Maple Leafs instead of remaining an Islander, a matchup between Toronto and New York on Thursday, February 28th, 2019 became must watch TV. It would be Tavares' return to New York.

Tavares gave the islanders the best 9 years of his nhl career and he was thanked with bad defense worse goaltending and the final straw was doing NOTHING at the trade deadline last year. If he stayed he would have to have his head examined.

The reason people are upset is because he told management not to trade him at the deadline and get a possibly franchise changing hall because he wanted to finish his career as an Isle. He then signed a contract with the Leafs that was lower than what the Isles offered him. He pretty much tanked their rebuild and forced them to sign a lot of players that in the short term makes them competitive but in the long term could anchor them dramatically, especially with the blooming inflation of contracts nowadays

But, the tribute video was about 1 minute and 30 seconds or so long, so I couldn't include the whole thing in this video.
