Nice to hear he still has his Lancashire accent. Over the years I have seen him as Hagen, Hans Sachs and Baron Ochs. Fabulous!

I heard him sing live at Covent Garden twice: One as Gurnemanz in Parsifal back in 2007, and in 2014 as King Marke in Tristan & Isolde. He was fantastic on both occasions.

First heard him in the film "Amadeus" he voiced Commomdore in the Don Giovani scene but the physical role was played by Jan Blazek.

For some reason I hear a bit of Gambon's Albus Dumbledore in his voice

Won't forget his performance of Gurnemanz back in the nineties with Poul Elming and Waltraud Meier, what a great occasion of Parsifal,..
