Fun little detail: The morning after getting the dog, John goes to the pet store and buys a bunch of dog stuff. You can see the bags in the back seat of the car during the gas station scene. Also, the airport scene, which happens immediately after, doesn't feature the bags or the dog, showing John had the common sense to not take his dog with him to do donuts.

John Wick set a new standard for action movie cinematography and by keeping everything within the frame and using very limited cuts, the entire movie is elevated to another echelon. I fucking love this entire series.

As someone that considers himself a huge John Wick fan, I feel so blessed seeing you guys having talked about each movie for like, 1 1/2+ hours. This is the content I want. I'm curious as to how many people actually go to watch the movies mainly for/because of Keanu Reeves? Like, no interest in action at all and go solely for the star factor. Such a wild thought to me because this movie (and the franchise) basically changed my view and preferences in action media today. I'm a gun fu stan and I'm fine with it.

I believe the movie Nick is referring to is the Man from Tai which stars the guy from the 2nd movie of the Matrix. He was the Asian guy who wore the only white suit fighting in that grand hall when Merovingian shows up pissed about his wife helping Neo and friends.

To speak on Joey's point about the time frame this movie came out in, I only saw this movie because I had turned 17 and wanted to see a rated R movie with my friends to celebrate, and this movie had come out a week before. None of us really cared about Keanu; being too young to have cared about the matrix, but there werent many rated R action movies. Walking out of the theatre we couldnt keep our mouths shut, it was a transcendent experience. The next week at school we made sure everyone knew how fucking incredible the movie was so word of mouth was definitely vital to this franchise becoming what it has.

John Wick : When Helen died, I lost everything. Until that dog arrived on my doorstep... A final gift from my wife... In that moment, I received some semblance of hope... an opportunity to grieve unalone... And your son... took that from me. Viggo Tarasov : Oh, God. John Wick : Stole that from me... *Killed that from me*! People keep asking if I'm back and I haven't really had an answer. But now, yeah, I'm thinkin' I'm back. So you can either hand over your son or you can die screaming alongside him! Scene was so badass. You do not really see the rage bubble over to the surface with his character (despite the violence), but it happens in this scene. Something quite intense about someone strapped to a chair still threatening them...

For director credits they needs to be only 1 director, that's why the other wasn't credited. "The DGA (Director's Guild of America) says that films can only have one credited director, unless they're directed by an established duo" so unless the directors area duo like the Russo's in the Avengers movies, only one person has to be credited.

@@skthechef8075 yeah but the movie treats Baba Yaga as a literal translation for boogeyman. Similar traits of abducting misbehaved children, but the Baba Yaga is an old witch in Russian folklore. When the in laws heard them refer to John wick as Baba Yaga they thought it was weird.

39:37 How the hell did you NOT get this? Why did you need to ask??? His wife recently died, and she was his only tether to “NORMAL” life. She is why he left his OTHER life. It’s blatantly obvious that he was driving like a maniac and venting all of his anger and frustrations at having lost his anchor in life. He’s hurting and he’s doing something stupid and reckless just to feel SOMETHING. Y’know, like PEOPLE do. It’s not Rocket Surgery. He’s lost and sad and wondering if he’d be better off dead. He doesn’t REALLY think so, but he’s taking out that existential crisis energy by driving like a maniac for a little while. …..WHY? You ask? Because at this point in the story…he’s sworn off KILLING. He hasn’t jumped back into the old life yet, so this is the closest he can get to satisfying his lust for Violence. It’s quite poignant when you realize he only did this car stuff, because he promised his wife he wouldn’t go back to Killing to fill the void. That’s why she got him a puppy to help make sure… …..He only came back because that little prick stole his car….and killed that puppy…..STOLE THAT PUPPY FROM HIM!!! How the hell is that confusing????

52:55 -- That was a really awesome move, and I don't know if it's from a particular style of martial arts, but it's nice to see some non-sexualized crotch-Fu. I mean, we've had Catwoman, Trinity, River Tam, Black Widow, Mystique, Ilsa Faust, Harley Quinn, Wonder Woman doing these kinds of moves in movies for years. Now, don't get me wrong, it's fucking HOT, but at the same time, it feels like gratuitous-bordering-on-sleazy framing / writing / directing. I don't know if that's the case, or the intent, but as somebody who can't just recognize different martial arts in movies, it FEELS like something that's just made up to draw attention to a woman's curves and dexterity. Like they're marketing to an entire demographic of couch Chads watching this shit and thinking, "Duuuuude, did you see that? I bet she fucks like a TIGER, brooooo." So, huge props to Keanu Reeves taking one for the team on that one.

Viggo's Final Form is actually really interesting - simultaneously horrifying, tragic, and hilarious. Dude is high as a fuckin' kite. This dude gave up his son's location to John Wick, immediately went home, rolled a fat joint, and smoked the entire thing in one sitting knowing that his son would be dead by the time he finished it. He is completely out of fucks to give, look at him trolling the All-State Mayhem guy with the gun. Or after all that's happened in the movie, this guy is really going to stand there and think, "You know... I bet I could take this guy in a fist fight."
