Forbes did a post on this film and so many of the comments were about Disney and not making MCU films anymore. Isn't the fact that so many of the general audience think its an MCU film a problem for Disney? Especially as their recent films have also had stuggles. It's bad for all comic book movies when one is this bad, its bad for Sony but it could be extra bad for Disney by proxy.

What I don't get is, remember when we heard Sony was developing a Madam Webb movie couple years ago, there was a really wild and crazy plot was reported for the movie, turns out they didn't even do that, that plot would have made this movie 100% better because that would have been crazy interesting instead of this try hard and not try hard mess.

If Sony was smart, they wouldn't have wasted Madame Web on a lackluster solo movie, but instead used her in a proper Spider-Man movie. Imagine if Sony collaborated with Disney/Marvel studios to make Spider-Man 4 a loose adaptation of Nothing Can Stop the Juggernaut, where Madame Web is kidnapped by Juggernaut. If you wanted Madame Web to have her first cinematic debut, why not have her in movie that is based one of Spider-Man's best stories?

Ezekiel isn't a villain in the comics. It might have been better to have the Black Tarantula as main villain with the original Tarantula (same powers but a lackey version that is not as strong as Black Tarantula's) as his lackey with Ezekiel without costume helping Madame web against the Tarantula. When the Tarantula fails to slay the girls Black Tarantula kills a member of Tarantula's family causing Tarantula to help Ezekiel against the Black Tarantula. The girls could have escaped a lab of Black Tarantula and their powers could work intermittently while their bodies are changing. Black Tarantula could want the girls off so that his work couldn't be replicated. Have Madame Web coach Ezekiel and Tarantula in their fight against Black Tarantula, trap Black Tarantula in some pocket dimension so that Spider-Man can fight him in a subsequent film.

Everything you said about the Peruvian tribesmen looking like Spider-Man and the movie not saying Peter Parker's name despite his birth being shown in it makes me wonder if these are the elements of a previous version of the film that was shot but that was scrapped. I remember that one of the rumors about this movie was that it was about Madame Web and these Spider-Women trying to stop the villain, who came from the future, from assassinating Peter Parker's mother to prevent Peter Parker from being born. I actually wonder if that was the original version but for some reason they decided to scrap it. That could explain why Ben Parker and Peter Parker's mom are still in the movie and why the villain's dialogue was ADR.

I really think this whole film was somewhat a missed opportunity not having a more middle aged woman in the lead. If you have a middle aged character whose life is possibly more behind then deal with her working partner about to be an uncle and settling down and herself has nothing. Then gets a shot at rescuing some younger characters and becoming a mother figure to them could have been a more interesting character How did she end up in wheelchair i get she fell but in the hospital I didn’t see a back or neck brace.

Sony is damaging its own brand. It's holding on to Spider-Man like a starving crocodile... but while they gleefully let Marvel Studios make Spider-Man movies for them, they're off in their own little meth lab, sabotaging the entire superhero genre with cheap, awful, cynical movies about characters that don't belong on the big-screen. In my opinion, Sony Pictures needs to be shut down, re-organized, and re-branded as something else because at this point, saying you worked on a Sony Pictures film is like saying you worked at a gas station.

the Director S.J. Clarkson got a good track record with Tv, she directed episodes of Bates Motel, Succession, Vinyl (Underrated HBO show by the way), Orange is the New Black & The Defenders! Sad that she did terrible with Madame Web. Hopefully if she makes a follow up film, It'll be with a smaller Project like something from A24 or Neon. I've seen Directors go from a terrible Directorial debut with a better follow up. Dean Devlin (from Geostorm to Bad Samaritan) Julius Onah (from 10 Cloverfield Lane to Luce)

I remember Ezekiel from the Spider-man comics, and his introduction as a mysterious character with unclear intentions, is he good, is he bad, really worked for me. The overarching story was fascinating, if not a bit over the top, but to me at least Ezekiel was a interesting character that deserved to be introduced on the big screen in any other way than this... Well, here's hoping Sony leaves Morlun alone a bit longer😅
