I've seen so many people codemning Pedro's casting based soley on the fact that John Krasinski didn't get the role. Some are even claiming that Kevin Feige refuses to cast John. Which I find hilarious since John Krasinski has gone on record about how he doesn't wanna commit to a multipicture deal. He's a very busy actor and director. If I'm not mistaken he was so busy they had to film him and the other Illuminati cast members seperately in Multiverse of Madness.

@@atticus8659 Paul Rud was in movies back to back to back to back with Antman, Civil War, Antman and the Wasp, Endgame. He spent all of his 40s doing those roles. The only year he wasn’t in a movie was 2017 and yes he’s gotten older, but he’s gotten older with the role. To start a franchise at nearly 50 and then knowing full well how long it takes Marvel to make sequels nowadays, by the time we get to F2 he’ll be most likely older than Rudd is after already completing his Antman trilogy. Still not a good comparison.

They did white Richard’s and it DID work. Nobody was complaining about Miles or Ioan. FF2015 sucked because there was no heart in it and there was a lot of changes in that one. FF2005 is good for its time, it was well casted, script was okay. It wasn’t perfect but it was enjoyable. But my point being, Reed’s casting was NEVER the issue. So to say “they did white Richard’s and it didn’t work” is simply false. They did FF and it did work to an extent in 2005 seeing as how they greenlit a sequel, and didn’t work in 2015.

Originally, I think the age difference was supposed to be bigger with Richards was in 40's and Sue was in her 20's. I don't have an issue with original incarnation (as I think age gap relationships are just deserving of respect as any relationship) but even when they aged up Sue Storm, there is still an age difference between them.

When it comes to casting, I've always said I don't care what the actor or actress looks like. I only care about is can the actor who got casted play the role. Christan Bale doesn't look like Bruce Wayne but he ended up playing the best Bruce Wayne in live action. Neve Campbell doesn't look like Raven from Twisted Metal but she played the character really well. The only time I'm picking with looks is when it involves casting for Scooby-Doo. That casting back in 2002 and 2004 was top notch. Other than that, if you can play a character you're casted for, I don't care what you look like.

I'm not sold on Pedro Pascal as Mr Fantastic because I don't see him playing the genius intelligent guy type role. Don't get me wrong I am not saying that Pedro Pascal isn't smart, cause I am sure he is very smart. I just think and as a fan of Pedro Pascal, that he is better suited for the Cowboy/Lone Wolf type roles like he did in The Mandalorian and The Last of Us. I am also not sold on Vanessa Kirby as Invisible Woman because honestly I do not think that she is that great of an actress and there are other people in my opinion who would have payed the role of Invisible Woman better.

I was initially annoyed by Pedro Pascal's casting only because I feel like he's oversaturated as an actor these days, appearing in essentially every major production kinda like The Rock and Chris Pratt. But after thinking about it for a bit, I think Pedro Pascal might be the perfect choice for Reed Richards because Marvel is still in desperate need for their new MCU Figurehead(s) which has been vacant since RDJ's Iron Man and Chris Evan's Cap departure in Endgame. Pedro Pascal has the charisma and presence that could very much fill that void RDJ and Chris Evans left and get the MCU back on track.

Look at Mahershala Ali, he played cottonmouth in Luke Cage and now he’s playing Blade and Alfred widard played Maria Dillard in Luke Cage and played another character in avengers two and there are several others in the MCU that have played two separate characters. My crack research team shows a full 13 year age gap between Pascal and Kirby, not 12 plus a few months. This corresponds to Pedro entering college the same year Kirby enters kindergarten. Also, the average marriage age gap is 2-4 years depending on the country or methodology used, so you and Rob's parents age gap is definitely not within the statistically normal range. Otherwise they are great actors, but while this is no Michael Douglas-Catherine Zeta-Jones situation, it is not casting that reflects a statistically normal age gap. The question is whether Marvel was scared to cast a woman in their early to mid-40s to pair with Pascal.

Do you know how many times I've seen it happen? People complain about the casting of a beloved character, only for the chosen actor to utterly excel in the role. Just look at Michael Keaton as Batman, Robert Pattinson as Batman, Heath Ledger as The Joker, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Daniel Craig as James Bond, and so on. That's why I've learned to give it time and not jump to conclusions.

When I was a kid I always pictured Colin Firth as Reed Richards xd. I'm personally fine with Pedro Pascal, however he doesn't give the vibe of being the smartest guy in the room. Obviously when we see him in some official picture in character and wearing the costume I might chage my mind. As for the other two guys I'm ok with them although I haven't seen much of their work. But Vanessa Kirby... YES!! I Think she's a great casting for Sue Storm, I'm glad she got the role

I feel like he doesnt look like him because the shape of his face. Mr fantastic has a long frame and face, where as Pedro has a naturally rounder face compared to the comic. This coming from an artist perspective mind you just stating what I see. His ethnicity, age, or acting doesnt matter or effect the choice its just his actual silhouette of the characters dont match. Pedro's face is rounder like a Charles Barkley, but he needs more of a Kevin Garnet type of face and frame (not saying the same height) in my opinion. But I'd still give the movie a chance and hope it does well.

I think if you look up "Pedro pascal no beard" you'll see a couple of photos of him with the high and tight haircut and more sunken in cheeks, it gives his face a longer look for sure. I've even seen some comic artists give Reed a squarish head but gave him a bigger forehead to compensate (Marvel Adventures Fantastic Four issue #27). All in all, I think he can pull off Reed Richards.

I’m reading some of comments and I’m going to throw this out there in the form of a question. When was the first time you ever saw Pedro Pascal in a performance? Some would say Game of Thrones automatically. I wasn’t a hardcore GOT fan, so I didn’t see his short lived role until maybe a couple years after seeing Kingmen: The Golden Circle where he played the character “Whiskey”. There was no indication of an accent (other than he was Texan). In fact Pedro Pascal’s name wasn’t in any of the promotional materials, so I didn’t have a clue that he wasn’t white. Now, I’m by no means am suggesting that he plays Reed Richards white……..just play him effectively and believably. Something else to chew on. A young Martin Sheen played JFK in a tv miniseries…….and he’s Hispanic. Oh, as far as the age difference dynamic between characters. We weren’t complaining about the 10 year gap between Harrison Ford and Sean Connery in Indy 3. Pedro and Vanessa will be ok 👍🏿

I love the potential costumes. The mod fashion with the astronaut pants, go-go boots with the very ‘60s “Dick Van Dyke” sweater. And that they went with the X-Men way of doing costumes, each is a little different but they all look like they belong together. Pascal can 100% play the “smartest person in the world,” Even if they’re not related, one of the cast members being named “Kirby” just feels right. I can already hear “it’s clobberin’ time, assholes” in the accent Bachrach does for Richie. My only question mark is Quinn but that’s b/c I haven’t seen Stranger Things.
