The musical quality, how they integrate folk instruments with modern instruments... It's impressive how they combine different musical styles (classical music, rock, folk), changes of harmonies, introductions, emotions... they are unique...!!

The Jaivas, their music, they have managed to unite the sounds of the world with Andean music. That's why when foreigners listen to them they say they find Asian flamenco sounds, rock and others... The music of the Jaivas is an art that should be expanded today with the networks, because I feel that I have to do justice to their music that never came to be known, like others whose sounds today are practically artificial and soulless...

Their first serious attemp was something similar at the sound of Santana, and someone told them that a musician called Santana was doing that kind of music, and then them change to somethin more southamerican andino and others rithm not so afroamerican. Their first album "El Volantin" (the comet), was produced by Country Joe McDonald if i not mistaken.

@nelsonfuentes91752 жыл бұрын
@hernantapia21802 жыл бұрын

@@JohnCregoWorldMusic Hi John. They haven't influence by Santana and nobody else. From 1968 to 1971 they "shut off the radio" and began to search their own sound by improvisations. In 1971 they published the first album called "El Volantín" (The Paper Comet) . One year before Los Jaivas meets Country Joe Mcdonald in Chile . So If you ear them in similar sound of another artists, it's a paralell product job. Grettings from Villarrica, southern of Chile
