Absolutely disagree. Look at this as if it was the other way around in gender. If a young guy called his mom or dad, people would call him a mommy's boy or that he needs to grow up if he's going to be in an adult relationship and should have his own values and make his own decisions. Also the mom gave her trash advice. He sees that too

@canonaler
@canonaler 4 ай бұрын
I think it's a bit childish in terms of having enmeshed boundaries with the mother. I am very close with my parents but I don't want them in my personal business with everything I do or encounter. Would you want your husband to go tell all his family, say, if you had a dry vagina and needed help with it ? Some things need to stay personal and not be told to extended family.
@venusretrograde6177
@venusretrograde6177 4 ай бұрын
@@canonaler I personally don’t think that’s a fair comparison. I definitely think it would be inappropriate to talk about your partners genitalia with your parents however, I don’t think it’s inappropriate to discuss something that they did; especially something that you are having a moral issue in accepting. I’d say it would be appropriate for a woman to seek counsel on something like this from her mother. Some people don’t have friends they can talk to about this kind of stuff.

I'm a 67 year old woman, and I think this young woman's mother's comments indicate that Mom has the same suspicions that I do. The step-son is a creep. The story about the threesome with his brother and sister in law is made up nonsense. He's saying that, because he's attracted to his step-mother, and he's telling that story in front of her and his father, fishing to see whether they will invite him for a threesome. That's why Mom is telling her to avoid him as much as possible.

It seems like her stepson is scoping things out because he is physically interested in her. And based on dads reaction and the existence that is having three somes with his brother and the wife which is so wild. I genuinely wouldn’t be surprised if dad endorsed this occurring between them and the son because clearly the family has no issues with some really out there sexual relationships. And I dont want to judge something I truly don’t know all the facts of but as extreme as this is, and something I would not truly believe if I wasn’t listening, but the family having unusual standards as it applies to these things isn’t entirely a surprise if you consider that she married a man who is twice her age and she is the same age as his actual children. And she seems to lack a lot of maturity by comparison to handle this stuff in the sense that she can’t communicate this with her husband had to call her mom. I can’t decide if it’s some sort of mental abuse where she doesn’t feel free to leave or if crassly this was a money motivated marriage. Who knows

One comment that hit me between the eyes. Did the son tell the story while they are all out getting a group manicure because him and dad like the idea of sharing his dad's wife and they concocted the plan together? This would explain why dad had no reaction. He was in on it. Get out now.

I think the confusion is that many of us think the brothers were just sharing the wife, not being sexual with each other. Incest is if the brothers were physically sexual with each other. Sexually attracted to each other and act on it. This seems to be a threesome where the focus was on the woman involved. In the spectrum of unhealthy and not appropriate, one is WAY greater than the other, but certainly both instances most people wouldn’t say is healthy or showcases good judgement. Yep. 26 yr olds need to grow up and one way is seeking mom's wisdom! Dr Daloney was brilliant in his advice and his spontaneous reaction was an example to the young woman of how a wholesome person with godly values would react and then reason. The young woman needs both her mom and friends in their 20s who will share wisdom and truth. Daloney is aware that as long as the young wife leans to heavily on Mom, she will keep acting and feeling like a child. I get it. But the young woman needs to grow up and still seek advice from Mom and other godly wise women. It's late. Forgive me if I started rambling. 😊

hot take but i don't think it's weird to call your mom. i'm a woman and i'm 28 and married and i call my mom about things in my life just bc we are close. i don't need her to solve all my problems or anything, we even live in different states but i do ask her for advice on things and use her as a confidant because i trust her. i don't think that's childish but maybe that's just me lol

It's not adultery if they are all into it. It's incest if he's tapping the brother but if not it's just a threesome with dubious partners. That's probably the mental train going on for the dad

I’m curious why a mother isn’t a good person to call but older friends are? I used to call my grandmother all the time when she was alive for advice, because she happened to be the wisest woman I knew on the subjects I was asking about. I feel like asking the best person would make more sense rather than immediately dismissing advice simply because it’s your mother. What am I missing?

I think he was getting at that she's handling this in an immature way. I agree with you that I consider asking your parents for advice is good. However, he seems to pick up quick on the caller's core issues generally. I think that's why its an issue for him.

Because usually you don’t want to get your mom or dad involved in your relationship issues. You might end up forgiving your partner for what they dis but your family or parents will hold it against them. Its a VERY wise thing to keep the separate. Ive seen these things happen many times with different couples.

I think it was the way she seemed to run to her Mother for help. It seemed like a teenager running to her Mom. Not an adult daughter asking her mother for wisdom and life lesson. Their is a difference. And you could see it in the way she said it. It was like Mom tell me what to do. She is emotionally a little staunted because she has been with a much older man making the big choices in her life since she was a teenager.

@@marteumar8429 Yes. Yes, I would absolutely have this conversation with my mom. I'd have this same conversation with a friend, a therapist, or any other trusted person. If you can't trust your mom to have your best interest in mind and give you support, then doesn't that say something about your relationship with your mom? I think so. I have very transparent and close relationships with my kids. We talk about all kinds of subjects that some people would consider off the table. I'm grateful that they feel safe to talk about those topics with me. I will always support their best interests, mental and physical health.

I agree that she needs to grow up. Just because something seems taboo or off putting to you doesn’t mean that you can throw a fit about it. They are all consenting adults and it seems to me that any retaliation on her end would be equivalent to homophobia ??? Am I wrong ?? Treating someone different due to their sexual preferences ??? Not saying you have to be bffs with this person if you don’t like their actions but you can’t be upset about someone else’s choices. It is also very wrong to me that she’s now pressing this info all around, posting on Facebook almost like she wishes to humiliate these people in some way.

I disagree with Dr. John on the "stop talking to mom" thing. I'm in my 30s and a very healthy, fully adjusted adult in a happy marriage and I talk to my mom about nearly all of my problems. I am not dependent on her but she knows me the way only a mother can, she knows my values, and she possesses a mother's wisdom and life experience that I find invaluable
