Elvis always seemed to have fun on the stage. ALWAYS ,smiling, goofing around and yet, he was always VERY professional. This wonderful man, was always so generous with his fans..Not only he gave his audience great performance with his unique and beautiful voice, but also , he made them laugh , joking with them, , kissing the women, shaking hands with guys, and as you can see , HE , enjoyed every minute of it ... HE WAS A NATURAL.., this is why his fans from all over. the world, will always cherish his memory.....Today, there is NO interaction between the singers, men or women, and the crowd .,like ****THE KING***had with the public..... He is sorely missed.****. Long Live The King.***..Thank you John Gibson., you re the best...

+Annie Leouzon Exactly! Completely agree with you! And believe me everybody became crazy during his concerts; they had to hire a guy to shout at the end of the concert "Elvis has left the building" or else they would be still there shouting for Elvis. I know where I'm talking about because I was there as kid of 8 years old.

These things seem so simlpe that Elvis does on stage. But Elvis was a Master Chef. If we try to do exactly what Elvis did, we'd be better musicians and performers but would NEVER get the same reaction he got. He just had that special IT FACTOR that CAN NOT BE TRAINED no matter what you do or no matter how hard you try. There was ONLY ONE. And he was IT.

Elvis is so natural, in the 70's I thought he just got up there and performed fantastically, but through the years I noticed that he also very cleverly and stealthily conducts the band, the brass, the female backup singers and the male backup singers and integrates his performance with all that and still kids, smiles, performs, and looks and sounds great, and looks natural and relaxed and happy all at the same time. Just mind boggling! Thanks John!

He produced all his shows and arranged when the backup singers came in the parts of the band orchestra etc. He was very subtle in the way he conducted them . A hand motion, a nod of his head or even his body. Especially with the drums and drummer. They had to watch him at all times because sometimes he tricked them just to see if they were paying attention.😂😂 Sometimes he call out songs that weren't on the playlist 😂😂

This is of the Hampton road concert on April 9 1972. I was 8 years old and wanted to go to there but because April 9 1972 was a sunday and the next day it was school my mom didn't let me go. Fortunately two months later he came to perform in New York nl on June 10 1972 and that was a friday. Btw I still have the ticket. Now this is also used in the documentary-film called Elvis on tour released by MGM on November 1 1972 and in 1973 it won the award of Best Documentary Film at the 30th Golden Globe Awards, another reason that Elvis was and still is THE GOAT!!!

Jane H commenting …. I think this might be the first time I’ve seen this video, which is great that I’m finally getting to see it. Elvis evolved so beautifully from 1950s as a teenager & young man, into the 1960s Hollywood heartthrob, & then into the 1970s back into live performances, which he loved best. Nice to hear him singing Amen, because Elvis loved singing Gospel. I was wondering if you had done a Reaction to If I Can Dream, which he asked one of his songwriters to write for him, as a tribute to Martin Luther King, after he was assassinated in 1968. Elvis then performed it on his televised 68 Comeback Special. I believe he only sang it twice, both times during the Comeback Special. It was very important to him that he did that tribute to MLK, in spite of his manager telling him it would destroy his career. If you haven’t done a Reaction to If I Can Dream in the 68 Comeback Special, I would love to see you do one, & I’m sure all Elvis fans on your channel would enjoy that too. He really does have an exceptional voice.

Glad you played this -- i've been suggesting this song to quite a few people yet not many people tend to play it -- there's lots to see from his Hampton Roads concert. As Elvis is always doing something unexpected, it's always best to wait to the very, very end 'cause you never know what he's going to do; thx so much for this -- he was an energetic, powerhouse in Hampton Roads - should not be overlooked, as you can see from some suggestions below - thank you so much.

John can you do an analysis of one or more of Marty Robbins. He is my hero. I love his music so much. IMHO, Dylan, Simon and Marty are the three greatest singer songwriters. I can refer some songs that are worth looking at. Any of the three trilogy songs: "El Paso", "Feleena", and "El Paso City", or "At The End of a Long, Lonely Day", "Don't Worry", "She was young and she was pretty", "Girl from Spanish Town," "Pride and the Badge', "Till Hell Freezes Over", "Because It's Wrong", "Begging to You", "I'm not Ready for you Yet, "The Chair", etc.

Hallo John! 😉

@@alameas6358 Haha yes, even for himself :) In '70 he was best in the fast active performance shows, later on he got better at the more serious emotional songs like 'My way' and 'Unchained Melody' and such. (I think)

This was great, John. I’m not sure but it looks like the video has been restored/remastered. The only thing missing here, I feel, is the full dynamic range of the band. Sounds slightly muffled in comparison to say, the 1973 aloha performance. Other than that… Incredible.
