We got a Dreamcast on day one. We didn't have enough money for a game! But there was a demo disc, and Sonic Adventure blew my brains out!

Yes. It was transformative. I was a normal, 19 year old boy. Then the Dreamcast blew my brains out and I became Sega Boy, a hero for all Sega products.

That's awesome that you have a complete collection! I'm still buying games for the Dreamcast! You know, I regret not buying Canon Spike back in the day because now that game cost so much more. I remember reading about that game in a magazine and thinking, "Wow, you can be Cammy and Mega Man in the same game?" I had to have that game. I saw it for $50 at the store, and for whatever reason, I kept forgetting to buy that game :/ LOL

The first (and only) console I stood in line for. 9/9/99 (or 9/9/99 for our European friends) was a fantastic day for me! I think I have the OG Crazy Taxi (with a receipt from the Michigan game store it came from inside) if you are actually in need of it to feel complete, John. I only collect stuff I play and I play Crazy Taxi on Xbox primarily now, so you're welcome to it!

@RDJ134 Yet it found a niche market in the UK and strangely Italy for some reason! However Sega saw the writing on the wall and realized they were getting trounced in most every market. 🙄

If there is one Japaneses import for Dreamcast that I strongly recommend, its Bomber Hehhe. i guarantee you will have a BLAST playing that game. Its literally a building demolition simulator. It was supposed to release in North America but it was canceled and banned from releasing over here due to 9/11. Nonetheless, it is a very fun game with cool physics.

So it was a little difficult subtracting your doubles and triples of the same title and I might have counted wrong but it’s 254 or 256 titles in the collection?!? I only have like 37 games and got Confidential Mission plus StarLancer a couple of years ago and there both Awesome! 😎 Seems like there’s more of a dedicated HomeBrew base and community in the US than there is in Japan, and Japan has a more dedicated HomeBrew community for the Saturn! 😉 Either way it means a better library of games for both systems! 😊

Immortal John Hancock which game was your favorite to get out of your dreamcast collection? We all have that 1 game that had a cool story to go with it. Amazing collection!!!!
@DaveSimonH6 жыл бұрын
I loved my Dreamcast, I had a lot of fun with the many light gun games on the system, 'Sega Bass Fishing' with the rod, the arcade style games, racing games and of course Shenmue 1&2. It's lifespan really does fall under 'short but sweet'. When it was discontinued I picked up a few more games, then ended up getting a Gamecube (probably my favourite Nintendo system) and later on an Xbox as well. Still to this day have never owned a PS2, an odd gap for me in that generation. I think my reasoning at the time was moving forward, going from Dreamcast to Gamecube to Xbox, there were obvious visual upgrades (vs what felt more of a sideways move from Dreamcast to PS2). While both the Xbox & Gamecube had to deal with third party games being somewhat restricted by the power of PS2, their exclusive games really showed what they were capable of. As for picking it up a PS2 now, I'm not really too interested. I played the multiplatform games of that gen on the other systems and the exclusives I was interested in made their way onto the PS3. That is a system I own and love, despite poor hardware longevity. People give the 360 stick, rightfully so mind you, but I've only had one broken 360, vs 2 broken PS3s (YLoD 'phat' 80GB model & a 'super slim' PS3 that couldn't even be repaired). Currently have the 160GB 'slim' PS3.

I would like to hear more about your ideas for your museum. What type of displays and what will they look like? Will there be interactive parts? Will the museum host championships? Will it be home consoles only? Will you center around a specific character or company or era? How big will the building be? I realize you don't have any concrete plans right now, I am just wondering how you see this in your wildest dreams?

You guys in the US got far better Dreamcast cases than we did in the U.K. Our cases are chunky and blue, making them far fatter than standard CD cases; thus making storage a right pain in the backside.

As fragile as the European cases are, I still think they are the best of all regions. When in good condition they are beautiful and look much nicer than the US/JP cases
