@@RetrOrigin they almost went bankrupt because Sony flooded the worldwide market with hundreds of millions of bootleg, counterfeit Dreamcast games because the system had improper protections against these. Typical Sony behavior, really. @RetrOrigin3 жыл бұрын
@@tynao2029 That makes absolutely no sense. The Dreamcast has one of the highest attach and tie ratios, which means piracy has almost no impact on its failure. Out of all of Sega's failures, the Dreamcast is one that really hits home. What a fantastic system! Can you imagine being a Sega developer at the time? What team at Sega ultimately held the responsibility for putting new consoles out there without enough content to support the launch? To me, it's what led to their demise in the console market space.
@surfersilver66103 жыл бұрын
Not really as you can see there were plenty of games made and like 95% of them were excellent, unlike most systems that can go 50/50 or less in an entire collection with playability/quality. The Sony Playstation was the huge problem as it was only 1 year away and played DVD's where DC did not(A huge oversight on SEGA). People waited for it instead because of that feature. Look at ANY launch of Sony consoles and a huge portion of sales were not to gamers but to regular consumers who just to play DVD/Blu-ray movies since the consumer grade standalone players cost more than the Sony and could not play games. There are several other levels to Sega's failure the bigger ones were not having enough consoles to keep up with demand, a problem with every big console launch it seems, so people went and bought something else that was available for Christmas presents instead of a DC. Then Sega dropped the machine altogether instead of persevering and coming out with a new improved model, when Sony launched, that could play DVD's and an upgrade option for current owners at a minimal price. If they stuck it out I think it would have been a Sony killer if not just true contender that would be around today. The more I read on SEGA & DC the more problems I learn of they created like investing in Arcade Parlors around the country eating up resources(that could have been used to make more consoles available at launch).

haha! Nice video. The dreamcast did feel special, it was this charming system. Great List, I was a fighting game fan and it was nice having some good ports without importing. Around that time, the PS1 had no RAM for character swap on Xmen Vs Street Fighter, so we had to import the Sega Saturn because of the ram expansion. That was early Ebay, so those games would run up around 140 to 170, and these ports were released around the same time the game was out at arcades. So in other words great for training for tournaments. The dreamcast was the Naomi board, so all of the Capcom ports were perfect, surprised Virtua Fighter 3 TB wasn't exactly like the arcade, and SNK's output was actually interesting. Nice bonuses on there end. Surprised Last Blade 2 got an USA Release, that's actually an under rated gem of game, easy to play, nice style to it, not exactly Samurai Showdown or Soul Calibur. This interesting period of Samurai action. Also Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is an amazing CPS3 arcade game, which a fighting game with a story mode fallows the manga, and it's not bad. Had a USA release also. I mean I did import a few games, but even with a short life span, a lot of games did come to USA. Again cool video

Dreamcast to me was a dream to own when I first got mine back in 1999. It was probably my first console that I had a deep profound love for. And I'm happy to still own one today that still works perfectly 😊. Great console very under-rated.

The Berserk game is probalbly shooting up in price because the author of the series passed away a while ago and now is more collectible.

You missed the best flight sim for Dreamcast: Air Force Delta. You need to check that out.

You were spot on when you explained that virtua tennis was really the most enjoyable sports game on the dc. That game is still enjoyable today.

I had a lot of fun playing Hydro Thunder, Ready to Rumble and Virtua Tennis. I never had a ton of patience playing careers in games but Virtua tennis had me hooked. That's also where I started playing Rayman and have lived those games since. NBA2k and NFL2k games were great too!

I always love it when you give the Dreamcast its props MJR my dude 👍 I got mine on 9/9/99 and still play it proudly to this day! I'm near a complete NA set as well only 7 more games! I'm not just collecting every game but attempting to complete them as well and have stumbled on (in my opinion) many hidden and affordable gems Keep up the quality content and never loose that infectious passion you have for gaming homie!

I am the only one who thinks Retro game KZbinrs are running out of content. These "here is my collection videos" seem to saying that I can't think of anything to do so I'll do some shots of boxes and make a video of them. They all just follow each other. LGR is the only one doing interesting videos these days. The pickups with Reggie are still fun but most of the time its just here's my stuff and here is a review of some free stuff I got sent.

If you can get a hold of Trickstyle it is an excellent addition to your collection. I put the most hours into that game than any other dream cast game back in the day and there really isn't very much like it. So glad to see Jet Grind Radio in your mix!! Keep on rocking dude!

The Dreamcast was the best hand me down I ever received from my cousin when he got his PS2. I played the Dreamcast for years until I got an Original Xbox. What a great console

I'm drunk and I just watched you say "Hey guys Metal Jesus here" at least 20 times. You should do a video of everytime you've said "Hey guys Metal Jesus here"

The Dreamcast holds up so well. So many classics on this console. Shame I never got a chance to own this device. Worth looking for one now. Excellent video.

I just bought a emulating machine that plays Dreamcast. Cant wait to get back into the games. Had four Dreamcasts in my life. They last a few months each. Almost like their meant to break. But the games they made are amazing!

I have old Next Generation issues in PDF form. Issues from 1995-1999. Next Gen hyped the Dreamcast a lot. Those were my high school years. So DC still feels fresh in my mind.

I agree with Virtua Tennis, it's the first solid Tennis game I played and it's a great couch sports battle game with a friend. NBA 2K franchise which is a massive franchise nowadays was born in the Dreamcast.

I love and miss my Dreamcast. I wish I would have held on to it. My love for Soul Caliber started on the Dreamcast. Toy Commander, NFL2k, Power Stone, Resident Evil etc. brought enjoyment to my childhood. I bought this at launch and remember standing in line at Babbages.

Hey Metal. I love Sega. The Dreamcast is a great console. I wish Sega would remaster some of their arcade stuff. It's unreal how many great arcade games they made. They're sitting on a gold mine. Great video as usual. Rock on and game on
