Your reviews are never a disappointment John. Also might I say, some tremendous piano playing at the end there, really enjoyed that.

Nice review John. It's difficult to pick my favorite Floyd. Some days it's ''Animals''...other days it's ''Wish You Were Here''. However, I'm certain that ''Shine On You Crazy Diamond'' is my favorite Floyd song.

I'm glad that neither Roger nor Dave sang "Have a Cigar"... the "Which One's Pink?" line works so much better with an outsider singing it

Yes although I might do 'Amused To Death' first as that's my favourite! Cheers.

Yes, a great album. It's just a tad too miserable for me though. Be sure to check out the 'merits' of the Q Sound technology employed on Amused to Death.

Thanks Kelly. Not that familiar with Atom though I have it in the box set. Never grabbed me like the 1973-82 albums. Will check it out again. I like the cover concept.

Funny how Roger Water's complains about fame but most wouldn't notice him walking down the street! I just think like Dylan he's a miserable sod. Floyd's fame generally has all been about the music and the visuals, the band and their personalities has virtually been submerged by that. Back to the album which overall is terrific. I'm not big on tribute acts John but if you get a chance to see Brit Floyd I would they are top notch! Shine On You Crazy Diamond.- Brit Floyd kzbin.info/www/bejne/qZyxkIilacuen5I

Thanks James. I'll look out for them. Only tribute bands I've seen were Bootleg Beatles and an Abba cover band, both brilliant. As for Roger being a bit miserable I get ypour point although he seems to be less angry these days and is probably different in real life to his image (although Gilmour might not agree!). I wouldn't understimate Roger's lyrics in PF...although I think the music (of all of them) does lift them to another plane.

My love for Pink Floyd begins to wane immediately after DSOTM and this album was a huge disappointment for me when I bought it on release day in 75. Obviously Shine On is a great track but we’d already heard that on the radio prior to purchasing it and the reaction of both myself and a friend on listening to my copy for the first tine was ‘oh... so that’s it then?’, both of us being big fans of Floyd, me more than him. Maybe if it’d come out before Dark Side I wouldn’t have been so disappointed. Having said that it was WYWH that I took along to Nick Mason’s book signing and got him to sign that too, mainly because it was a a white cover and the ink would show up better. As a friend pointed out after ‘why didn’t you take your copy of DSOTM along and just buy a pen with gold ink in it? 🙄😄

I have always been ambivalent about Pink Floyd. The music and production is something which is indescribably brilliant, however I just can't stand Roger Waters, everything he says, and virtually everything he writes. Mainly because I can't stand communists, or communism, or anything remotely connected to it. But also because I can't stand very rich evidently hypocritical, habitually moaning, middle class, champaign communists even more so. Waters has lived his life in a state of acute cognitive dissonance, and he brings his own personal mental issues into every line he writes, and very statement he makes, like the emotionally indulged, fatherless, politically indoctrinated, mother obsessed arse, that he undoubtedly is. It is Waters that makes listening to any Floyd album with which he has had a major influence on, an unnecessarily depressing experience. Kicking the insane idiot out, was the best decision the rest of the band made. When you have David Gilmour, you really don't need anything else. Politics, especially of the English self hating middle class communist kind, and progressive rock music, DON'T MIX. When I see Big Brother marching out of the door, I see useful idiots like Roger Waters walking close behind.

Dude, waters didn't get kicked out,he left the band and he is one the reasons why pink floyd is so fucking amazing to listen to,without him everything would be very different even with David being there,I say they all played an important part
